neeko Posted May 19, 2014 #1 Share Posted May 19, 2014 First of all I love Celebrity and am hesitant in complaining but I have had it with the pricing. We are seniors and booked a cruise on board in March and received the extra perks by doing so. The sales agent on board told us that we were given the lowest price possible....it was a lowest price guaranty that convinced us to book. Now the cruise is several hundred dollars less for seniors. We would have to give up our perks to get the discount. Friends just booked the same cruise on board in May...got the same perks but also got the senior discount.....what gives. This happens with all the lines..I've learned to try and turn a blind eye at others good fortune/price/perks/etc. At the very least...I look at it as "good for them they got a sweet deal". Maybe my luck/deal will be on my next cruise. Edited May 19, 2014 by 20pluscruises
NLH Arizona Posted May 19, 2014 #4 Share Posted May 19, 2014 Apparently, they didn't have the senior discount in March. Not sure when your cruise leaves, if you haven't made your final payment, you can cancel and rebook at whatever promotion there is now.
Shake Posted May 19, 2014 #5 Share Posted May 19, 2014 This isn't a competition, it's a cruise. A lot like going to the Celebrity casino. When someone wins and you lose do you go to the cashier window and ask for the difference? Tell you friends since they smoked you on the senior rate, the first round in the Martini Bar is on them. :D
Rare sunluva7 Posted May 19, 2014 #6 Share Posted May 19, 2014 We were booked under a Pick Your Perk promo, and just before I made final payment the other day, I noticed a Senior rate that wasn't available earlier. Our cruise was re-fared with the much lower Senior rate, and we upgraded from a veranda to AQ. We lost our onboard credit, but still came out way ahead.:)

I would recommend you should NEVER book before Final Payment Date, OR, before you are COMPLETELY satisfied with the price you are paying at the time. ;)
Happy Cruiser 6143 Posted May 19, 2014 #8 Share Posted May 19, 2014 You were given the lowest price on offer at the time. Offers change all the time. Just like airline tickets. At least if you are before final payment, you can cancel and then book again at the new, lower price. With a plane ticket, once you've bought it, you own it. Or a $200 change fee. This is the name of the game in an industry which sells a perishable commodity. Just like hotel rooms. The ship does not want to sail with empty cabins and will do what it takes to fill them. On the other hand, you are protected at the price you agreed to pay when you purchased your cruise should the fare go up. I've seen fares increase by more than $1000.
