Ine Posted August 11, 2014 #26 Share Posted August 11, 2014 It sounds almost impossible to find an accommodation for 7 people in that budget. Maybe your only choice might be this organisation, a type of hostel but various sizes of rooms. http://www.stayokay.com/superzomertarieven?language=en

Maybe your only choice might be this organisation, a type of hostel but various sizes of rooms. http://www.stayokay.com/superzomertarieven?language=en Sorry, I apparently didn't make myself clear, obviously we can't fit 7 people in one room! I meant 150 euros/room per night, we want 2 doubles and a triple, that should be doable at this price I think. The other option would be either renting a 2 bedroom apartment to sleep 7 or a houseboat, how practical or otherwise is it the latter? Thanks for your recommendations:)

Thanks for your recommendations:) Without knowing what of the year etc it still is a bit difficult to tell you more. In general have a look at this hotel, since it has some rooms for 3 persons: http://www.lecoin.nl/en/kamers/familie-appartement/ Most houseboats rent for 3 days minimum in general, but unfortunately I donot know any with that many roaoms. Amerryscot Posted August 11, 2014 #29 Share Posted August 11, 2014 We're an extended family of 7 adults and are looking for a hotel or apartment for 2 nights in Amsterdam post-cruise. Will search on Travelpony later this year, would also like your suggestions for hotels, also which area to stay in, our budget is within 150 euos/night. Thanks in advance:) There are lots of places on the Damrak (street that links the station with Dam Square) that cater for large groups. We (family of 7) stayed in one room, for not much north of €100 a night B&B. At this €100 - 200 price point for large groups, you are looking at places that pretty much cater for the stag weekend market. Don't expect a lot of comfort - basic but clean. I contacted one of the sites from the Amsterdam tourist board and they propose the Little Budha houseboat in the Jordaan area, do you know it, would like to have your opinion. Redtravel Posted August 13, 2014 #31 Share Posted August 13, 2014 Staying at the Movenpick is convenient for the cruise. It is not convenient if you want to spend time enjoying Amsterdam. I have stayed in Amsterdam many times. My favorite location is Dam Square. You can walk to many places or take a tram. I have stayed at the Swiss Hotel and the Grand Krasnapolsky. Both are very nice. If you stay at the Swiss, join their guest club online. It's free and it will get you free perks. On our last trip, we got an upgrade to a gorgeous spacious room and a wine and cheese tray. Because our room was not ready when we arrived before noon, we got complimentary breakfast.

It can be anytime between 30 to 60 minutes.
