My son will be leaving the ship early in Barbados we got written permission from NCL for him to disembark. They had to clear it with the port authority in Barbados. We also will have to provide a notarized letter for him to travel back home with his auntie as he is a minor. Now the one thing I'm not sure of is if he has to leave the ship in the morning with his bags or if we can go do an excursion come back and get his bags before heading off to the airport around 2pm?

NCL couldn't physically stop him, but the local authorities could if he didn't have permission to permanently disembark the ship while in port. It's the cruise line that has to notify the authorities, not the individual. That's why you contact the cruise line to make the arrangements.

Update: Just received call from NCL, port services has approved the early departure. Barring any unforeseen issues (weather, changes in security) my son will be playing at Warped Tour in Mansfield!

EXCELLENT....glad it's all worked out!!
