lexingtonave Posted June 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 12, 2014 Traveling next Feb. and have booked an inexpensive hotel for pre-cruise because our flight won't land until 7:00pm. We would like to extend our stay for a few days after the cruise. We are looking for a hotel with a beach and a pool. There are 7 of us traveling in two rooms. The rates at the Embassy Suites seemed okay, but I don't know if they have a beach. If anyone has stayed there, your impressions please.
bouhunter Posted June 12, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 12, 2014 (edited) We just stayed there in March. It's a couple blocks from the beach but I think they claimed to have chairs etc there if you walked over and asked. We didn't get arount to checking it out. Very typical of most Embassy Suites, except they also have a casino:D It did seem that due to the casino there were lots of people hanging out at night that weren't guests of the hotel. There was some LOUD music booming in the atrium 2 of the 3 nights we stayed there. So I guess it looks like an embassy suites but doesn't have the same atmosphere in that respect. It was fine, we'd stay there again if the price was right though our preference would be the Caribe or Condado Hilton's. FredZiffle Posted June 12, 2014 #3 Share Posted June 12, 2014 We're staying there next month. The reviews say that they do have a reserved section of the beach with chairs and umbrellas for guests. Most say it's about a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
boscobeans Posted June 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted June 12, 2014 On a few Southern Caribbean cruises sailing from San Juan we've stayed at various beachfront hotels in the Isla Verde area and on several occasions the surf, although moderate looking, had a serious undertow. I am a decent swimmer and a few times I avoided the surf altogether and used the hotel pools. If you have young ones with you I'd check out the waters before allowing them into the surf. cruiseguy1016 Posted June 12, 2014 #5 Share Posted June 12, 2014 We stayed there a couple of years ago and yes, they do have a section of beach that is theirs. There are chairs, umbrellas and towels for the use of Embassy Suites guests. It's two blocks from the hotel, about a five minute walk.
