Embark from Warnemunde; how to get there?

Recommended Posts

We are meeting our ship in Warnemunde. I am having a heck of a time trying to figure out how to get there. Do I fly into Berlin? If so, what is the best way to get from there to Warnemunde? TIA!

Maybe flying into Hamburg would be a better option? There are direct flights to Hamburg from most capital cities/major Hubs in Europe (Including Frankfurt / FRA).

We'll be flying from Stuttgart (or a nearby airport, to include Munich and several others), which is where we live, so we may have access to direct flights into smaller cities that might not be an option for longer distance travelers. Is Hamburg still the best option? Would train from Hamburg to Warnemunde be the best way to get to the port?

We are flying in to Tegel (TXL) airport the night before we embark. Will spend the night at a hotel near the airport which has a free shuttle and then return to the airport the next morning. From Tegel there is an Express Bus to the Berlin train station where we will take the train from Berlin to Warnemunde (with a change of trains in Rostock). If you have specific questions Travelanni has a thread on this board for Northeast Germany. She is SUPER HELPFUL and is willing help out with questions and planning.

In that case, I would fly to Rostock. Germanwings has direct flights from Suttgart to Rostock, although I don't know how often they fly.

Hamburg Warnermünde will take between 2-3 hours with 1 chnage.

according to http://reiseauskunft.bahn.de/bin/query2.exe/en?ld=964&country=GBR&seqnr=1&ident=kk.065694.1402991360&rt=1&OK#focus

Another thought: have you considered driving from Stuttgart to Warnemünde? This should take about seven hours, so if the direct flights to Rostock don't fit your schedule, driving might actually be the fastest and most convenient.

Good idea Alex, but if the OP has never driven the Autobahn in German, well, he would be in for quite a surprise. (and may never make that cruise). :D:D:D:D

Cheers

I would reccommend flying to Berlin. Have you been there? It is a very interesting city.

From Berlin you can take a direct train with InterConnex. You do not need to transfer in Rostock with Interconnex. It stops in Rostock but continues up to Warnemünde. They are also good value for money.
