bballmomma Posted June 24, 2014 #1 Share Posted June 24, 2014 My DH and I took our 4th (second on RCCL) this past week. We had a great time. The Navigator is a great ship and had a great crew. Any glitches we experienced were handled well. We did all the specialty restaurants and loved them. We had booked online beforehand and were supposed to receive a discount but didn't until we talked to the staff. The handled it all immediately. We had the drink package for the first time and loved it. We didn't have any problems and drank anything and everything we wanted without issue. Once we were charged for something we weren't supposed to be charged for and guest services handled it immediately. Same for a mistaken mini bar charge. We would definitely do it again. Our balcony room on deck 6 was very nice and very convenient. It got a little warm twice but maintenance addressed it immediately. First time was our own fault-make sure you keep your balcony door latched or the air goes off. You have to really check it cause it seems latched but might not be. The second time it got too hot, we called and they came right down and adjusted our thermostat from within and we didn't have any more problems. I wasn't that impressed with food outside specialty restaurants but we didn't starve. And we knew what to expect so it wasn't a big deal. The casinos were smokey but that saved us some money on gambling. Starbucks on ship wasn't very good but again, not a big deal. The cruise director and activities director were my favorite on any ship and we really enjoyed them. We didn't do many shows but did not like the adult comedian at beginning of cruise. He was just not funny but other comedian at the end, Jeff Heath, was great. We never had a problem getting a chair by the pool and we never felt crowded. The elevators were always available, the staff was very nice. It took a while to get a drink at the pool deck bars but we would just stop by Promenade bars instead. Our excursions went well-Salsa Salsa in Cozumel was a lot of fun. Kind of hot but handled immediately by the staff and they were so nice. Maya Key Resort in Roatan was nice. Good food, easy to get to. We did snorkeling in Belize. Many snorkeling trips were cancelled because of the high winds but ours was not. Apparently since we were going off land, instead of a ship, the wind wasn't an issue. One of the tender boats broke down on the way back and we were late leaving but it did not effect us personally and I didn't hear anything negative from anyone it did. I am not really sure what else to include, but if you have any questions please feel free to ask. I didn't take many pictures of the ship but it was very nice and fresh. The smoky casino extended into the Schooner bar so we avoided it but loved the pub in the Promenade. We had no problem going in or out of Galveston. We arrived at 11:30 and were on the ship within 30 minutes. Did Self Assist to get off and it took an hour from the time we left until we got to our car, which was at EZCruise parking. This is our 3rd time to use them and they are great. Fun was had by all!
Clarea Posted June 24, 2014 #2 Share Posted June 24, 2014 Did you use the Internet on the ship at all? Just wondering how the speed seemed to you.

The Sunset Glow Posted June 24, 2014 #6 Share Posted June 24, 2014 Glad you had a great trip! Do you have copies of the daily compasses you could share? Did you have to check out towels for use on the ship or to take ashore? Thanks!
galavant3 Posted June 24, 2014 #7 Share Posted June 24, 2014 Did you use the Internet on the ship at all? Just wondering how the speed seemed to you. We used it earlier this month and the speed was ok - it seemed like connecting took a while, but once connected it was fine. Had no trouble connecting with iphone and very easy to apply coupon. We were advised to actually use the logoff.com command and not just turn off the wifi for a faster disconnect (to save minutes).
scotlady Posted June 24, 2014 #8 Share Posted June 24, 2014 Hi! Glad you had a great trip. Was your snorkeling through the ship? If so, which excursion was it (description per RCI?) and what location/island did it go to?

bballmomma Posted June 24, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted June 24, 2014 I don't have copies of the Compass but am happy to answer anything I remember. For towels on the ship, we just picked them up at the pool deck and returned them to a bin when we were done. They didn't keep track. For excursions, we gave our room number and number of towels we were taking to a man with a clipboard and he wrote it down. When we returned we told him the same thing, threw them in the bin and he crossed our name off. I was surprised they were pretty lax with this. They were keeping track but it was very much on the honor system.
bballmomma Posted June 24, 2014 Author #12 Share Posted June 24, 2014 Yes our snorkeling excursion was through the ship. It was the Barrier Reef Snorkeling excursion. Instead of tendering, we got on a boat that took us directly to a small island about 25 minutes way. It was very small, white sand island with a few palapas for shade. They took you in guided snorkeling groups about 100 yards out. I was having trouble with my mask and they were very nice and attentive. I was ready to go back before the group and the guides offered to help me get back, which I declined. They had a snacks, drinks and hot dogs/burgers you could purchase if you wanted. Some of the other excursions included lunch, but not ours. DH walked off the island about 10 yards and there were a sting ray and barracuda right there. You didn't really have to snorkel to see beautiful things. The island was small but not crowded, imo. I have never booked excursions through the ship before. I always go with a local tour but was pleasantly surprised. I never felt like cattle or rushed or any other thing else I have heard people complain about. Cruizin'Suzn Posted June 24, 2014 #14 Share Posted June 24, 2014 Sounds like you had a good cruise overall. Thanks for the great info. I sailed on the Navigator in May and am going again July 6th. May was our 1st time on a RCCL ship and we loved it! Great ship & fantastic crew!!!
mrBit Posted June 24, 2014 #15 Share Posted June 24, 2014 Did you use the Internet on the ship at all? Just wondering how the speed seemed to you. scotlady Posted June 24, 2014 #16 Share Posted June 24, 2014 So - bballmomma - the current name of the one we have booked is Barrier Reef Snorkeling Wonders, and it goes to Rendezvous Caye. Is that the one? Sorry, but they have been changing the excursions offered on the website like crazy over the last few weeks
bballmomma Posted June 24, 2014 Author #17 Share Posted June 24, 2014 Yes, that is the one we did.

scotlady Posted June 24, 2014 #19 Share Posted June 24, 2014 Also, Do you know if Texas Tenors were on this cruise? I saw that they were on a previous cruise in June, but I didn't know if this was a one-time thing or ongoing engagement. I would love to see them. Do you have an opinion on any of the other bands/entertainment on board?
scotlady Posted June 24, 2014 #20 Share Posted June 24, 2014 Thanks for the info on the excursions. It has been very hard to find feedback. I'm also happy to hear that it leaves directly from the ship. Nice!
bballmomma Posted June 24, 2014 Author #21 Share Posted June 24, 2014 Yes the Texas Tenors were on the cruise but we did not go to their show. We saw the "adult" comedian, can't think of his name but he was terrible and we have pretty low show expectations. I think he was the second night. He just was not funny. We almost skipped the late night comedy on the last night because the first guy was so bad. Glad we didn't though because he was good-Jeff Heath, funny and kind of physical comedy. We didn't do the ice show but liked it on the last RCCL we did. You had to get tickets in advance and we just never planned that far ahead. I guess a lot of people were leaving them on shore.
