CRU1Z1N Posted June 26, 2014 #26 Share Posted June 26, 2014 upcoming dream cruise sept 2014. Booked a cove balcony for $729pp. Saw a military special for same price around veterans day (for a cove also) with an OBC of $50. Called and got the OBC. Since cruise is paid off, I still watch for military price drops, however, cove balconies are sold out. Total cruise price with taxes and pp grats....$1802.22 and $50 OBC
OCruisers Posted June 26, 2014 #27 Share Posted June 26, 2014 By the time we book the cabin category we want in the location we want, it can get expensive.
BigEasyCC Posted June 26, 2014 #28 Share Posted June 26, 2014 Oh I forgot the $100 OBC. I don't count that usually... that's my play money! Sent from my SCH-I535 using Forums mobile app
newbiecruiser-texas Posted June 26, 2014 #29 Share Posted June 26, 2014 my friend and i booked in March - for 5 night triumph out of galveston on Aug 30 sail date - we paid $569 each for Aft Balcony (8M) - for a total of $680 each with taxes and prepaid tips. I had the casino deal and received $50 OBC for just myself, apparently it's not per person. Each time i do a mock booking the rate is always higher...keep hoping for more OBC - but all in all happy with my pricing. But it is always nice to see the actual $$ when everyone keeps saying they now have $1000 in OBC which is really cool, but when you look at the whole picture it could be that when they booked the rates were really high and now they are finally dropping. PSkinner Posted June 26, 2014 #31 Share Posted June 26, 2014 our very best deal was the free cruise offer that DH received in February. We upgraded from the free interior to a Vista Balcony on the Magic for $279.92 PP ($559.84 total). That includes tips, fees, and insurance! Best Deal Ever! 618mom Posted June 26, 2014 #32 Share Posted June 26, 2014 We booked in March for the July 5th sailing on the Liberty Empress deck midship balcony for 3. When we booked we were at $2175.96 and we are at $1884.80 now. Still a few more days to get a price drop.
kristie64063 Posted June 26, 2014 #33 Share Posted June 26, 2014 We originally paid $3,135.01 on the Glory, 1 OV room, 3 people. This is taxes, port fees, gratuities, all included. This is only my second cruise, and I just figured you had to pay if you want to go in premium times, i.e., Summer. However, with price reductions, we are now post final payment, and my final paid, including taxes, port fees, gratuities, is $1,964.84 / $655 per person. And I currently have $320.00 OBC. Hoping for more, but I know I've come down a LOT and am very pleased with my final deal, if this is it. We cruise 7/26/2014.

jhaasz Posted June 26, 2014 #39 Share Posted June 26, 2014 I'll share.... My husband was the lucky winner in the "Win a Cruise Bingo" this month (gosh, was it only this month - seems a lifetime ago). We are cruising in July on the Splendor. With the extra day (8 instead of 7) and the upgrade (6A to 8D - no lower balconies available), it is costing us $908.04, inclusive of port taxes. Now, we could have taken the ocean view room and saved $410, but what would have been the fun in that? :)

Kimberlyr22 Posted June 27, 2014 #42 Share Posted June 27, 2014 Pride, 7 day cruise, this August. I knew we would take a hit because of cruising out of Baltimore and it being summer (have to do summer vacation because of the kid). Booked Early Saver last year, 3 people in a Vista Suite, including taxes and gratuity was $4400. Was able to get a small price drop on the Kids Sail Free Promo which lowered our total price to $4230. Paid off the balance of the cruise with the recent gift card promo, so taking advantage of the $310 in free promo gift cards, we paid a total of $3920. I watched the prices over the last 9 months, and with the exception of a tiny price drop on Kids Sail Free, the price of suites for three travelers on this cruise never went down; pretty happy I was able to get the cabin I wanted at a comfy price. Plus, compared to our off-season, 7-day RCL cruise in an Ocean View room in 2012 that was $2400 total for two people, I was pretty happy grabbing the VS for three people for that price. We only take one family vacation a year (husband hates vacations because he's nuts)...so I like to make sure it's good!
cruising_diva Posted June 27, 2014 #43 Share Posted June 27, 2014 (edited) Last September, 5 night out of New Orleans on the Elation. $855.84 TOTAL for 2, Ocean View room! INCLUDING prepaid gratuities. That's a cheap vacation! :) (We did not purchase travel insurance.) This year, booked on the Dream in October. Booked for 3 people in a 7C cove balcony. Cruise rate with taxes/fees $1857.19. The prepaid tips and vacation protection added $480.50. Total of $2337.69. THAT price has us CRINGING but its our first balcony, first 7 day. Still before final payment date. Feverishly hoping for price drops. Edited June 27, 2014 by cruising_diva
Mrs. Squirrel Posted June 27, 2014 #44 Share Posted June 27, 2014 Upcoming 1/17/15 Carnival Miracle 15-night Hawaii Cruise was $1179.56 for cruise, taxes, fees, and port charges for myself and DS (10) in an interior cabin. I booked independent cruise insurance with Travel Guard for the two of us for an additional $31. We are the second and third occupants in a free cruise for two my mom got from the Carnival Casino program. Her fare was the same as mine, $185.28-which is the taxes, fees and port charges, but she added Carnival's insurance for an additional $49.00. My DS's fare was $809+$185.28. Jana60 Posted June 27, 2014 #45 Share Posted June 27, 2014 (edited) All these threads about price reductions, cheap upgrades, etc are meaningless, at least to me, if we don't know the final amount you paid for your cruise. I can tell you I got a $340 price reduction on our upcoming Magic cruise. But so what? Am I now paying on $4800...or $3600...or what? Oh, and you paid only $120 to upgrade to a balcony from a OV. It doesn't tell anybody anything. I'm nosy so I like to know the specifics too! I cruise solo frequently so I'll enjoy knowing what the prices are if only one person is cruising. There's a thread I watch in which solo travelers tell about good deals they found and we do report cabin type, price, and whether that price includes port charges and taxes. For instance my next cruise is a 5 day Western Caribbean on Triumph in a porthole cabin in July for $488.51 including port charges and taxes + $50 stockholder OBC This is not the lowest price I've ever gotten for a 5 day cruise but it's pretty decent for a summertime cruise out of Galveston. jsfromsc Posted June 27, 2014 #46 Share Posted June 27, 2014 We booked our Baltic cruise (July/August 2013) more than a year in advance. We knew it was going to be pricey. First of all, 12 days, and then factor in airfare and things just cost more in Europe. Anyway, when we booked the rate for two of us was $5028 for a regular balcony on deck 6. This was early saver. Then came the Triumph fire and word got out that rates were dropping. I called my PVP and not only did we get a price reduction, we got an upgrade for an extended balcony on deck 7. We ended up paying $3158 and getting a better cabin. Plus we had OBC for using a future cruise certificate to book the cruise. I am so thankful we were able to make this trip. We would have paid what we originally planned to pay, but this savings was an even greater blessing since I lost my job about 2 months after we returned from the cruise. I have been unemployed ever since so no travel of any kind for us in the foreseeable future. :( I sure wish Carnival would contact me about a free cruise. And BTW, the above prices don't include our airfare, which ended up costing more than the cruise, or the trip insurance, gratuities, etc. They are just the cruise fare and taxes. christyran1228 Posted June 27, 2014 #47 Share Posted June 27, 2014 We booked an 8E lido balcony on the Valor from San Juan for $714/pp, $1600 total with taxes, but no prepaid gratuities. The price went up $50 briefly, then back down $30. But we still have a long way to go. 😊
eas2225 Posted June 27, 2014 #48 Share Posted June 27, 2014 Last November we took advantage of a casino offer and sailed on the Pride, balcony on deck 7, for a total of $432.00, includes taxes, port fees, gratuities and insurance. Got another one, not as generous, but we're going again on the Pride in July. This time we're in a balcony on deck6, and the total is $723.94. Taxes, port fees, gratuities and insurance are included, plus a $100.00 onboard credit. In can't spend a weekend in Atlantic City for that! Gon2hwe Posted June 27, 2014 #49 Share Posted June 27, 2014 Since my husband retired we always book by price not date. I know everyone can't do that and feel lucky that we now can. He was a teacher so all of his times off were the most expensive times to go. We're also able to book through a great membership travel site and often get rates far below Carnival's rates. Our next cruise is Breeze 6 day. Aft wrap balcony for $1300 for 2 ppl including taxes, port fees and gratuities in Aug. Could have gone for a Cove for about $800 but decided to go for the wrap while it was so low.
nursepixie Posted June 27, 2014 #50 Share Posted June 27, 2014 My total was $2269 for 2 people (including all fees) and I have $403 in OBC. 6 night in a cove on the breeze. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
