Tell us...what did you actually pay?

All these threads about price reductions, cheap upgrades, etc are meaningless, at least to me, if we don't know the final amount you paid for your cruise.

I can tell you I got a $340 price reduction on our upcoming Magic cruise. But so what? Am I now paying on $4800...or $3600...or what? Oh, and you paid only $120 to upgrade to a balcony from a OV. It doesn't tell anybody anything.

So, I will walk my talk:

August 2014 sailing of the Magic to Western Carribean:

Cloud 9 Spa Balcony cabin for 2: $1750 includes $40 OBC

Cloud 9 Spa Interior cabin for 2: $1090 includes $40 OBC

Total for family of 4: $2840. This includes taxes/fees but not gratuities.

This is our new total after a price reduction netted a $340 discount and the OBC from our original booking. The OBC is good only in the arcade, so our kids will like that. This compared to a June 2012 5-day Triumph cruise that cost $2800 and a June 2013 7-day Magic Cruise that was $3800. Both of these cruises were just a single balcony cabin for 4.

So there you go. Now you have meaningful numbers.

Not to be rude however, my meaningful numbers are nobody elses business. Just like my annual income. Nunya

And I'm not really concerned as to what fare other people paid. I'm happy with my fare, I can only assume that you're happy with your fare.

I think the way "not to be rude" would have been to just skip over the post and not reply to it. Because frankly, your reply was quite rude.

I haven't had a price match booking in a long time but I used to check for price changes every 10 minutes it seemed when I did. It's nice to see everyone getting such good deals.

I guess I understand OP's point but, on the other hand, I can't say that I ever really wanted to know what others were paying. Not sure what difference that makes since price is relative to everyone. Also prices are so up and down with Carnival that the price you're quoted one day may change if you check again the next. Finally, just because someone puts a price in their post doesn't mean it's the actual amount they paid.

I dont mind sharing my info--if people dont want to --nothing is making you--its a simple question.

I have a cove balcony in the 8 day southern breeze trip--july 5---paid $471. with taxes for 2 people--was a casino special--also get a $100 OBC.

My last cruise in jan on the breeze was a 6 day --we had an inside and an aft balcony. I paid $279 per person for the inside for my 2 boys and $559 per person for my daughter and I --dont remember the taxes on that. I always look for an excellent deal before I book.

I don't consider her post rude as must as I expected such replies to my bold post. Plus I have really thick skin and am rarely bothered by such things. Sometimes I would be more concerned if everybody agreed with me.

Candor is always in question on a public forum, no doubt. As for my prices, any VIFP can do a dummy booking and see these prices display. At least that was still the price last night...and has been at that level since late May.

I am hopeful that means the cruise is not booking as fast as they would like, and maybe the passenger load will be below maximum capacity.

I don't mind saying what I paid, and I THINK i got a good deal based on what i have seen, but then again I have not been on a lot of cruises, so maybe it isnt a good deal!

I paid $2070.04 total (including taxes, fees, tips, etc) and have a $252.00 OBC. (so if I took that OBC away it would be $1818.04)

(for a 7 night carnival pride in july category 8D for 2 people)

Wow...your prices make me look forward to the day when we can cruise off season. I am not a gambler so I won't get the casino special, but that January rate was sweet.

I think the final price is very helpful for those that do not cruise very often. I could say I was always happy with the price I paid for a cruise or I would not have booked it. But, I would have been happier had the price been 50% less. So knowing that OP paid xxx for his cruise on the same ship I am thinking about, I might not book it today if the price was 5 times what he paid. I might watch prices a bit more before I took the plunge.

I have this problem with trying to book a cruise over the winter holidays. I know cruising over xmas is more expensive but knowing that for the last 5 years ALL the prices on ALL the ships went down 80% two weeks before sailing might benefit me. No guarantee that cruise would drop, but I would have a better feel on the odds. Kind of like knowing hitting a 19 at blackjack would be stupid, but hitting a soft 17 would be a fair bet.:D

Yeah, I am blessed with 7 weeks of vacation per year. I am very flexible in when I work and my daughter is 8--I take her out of school when i travel. I always look for the very best price--doesnt matter to me when it is.

My boys have now graduated college, so they dont have the time available like when they were in school. So, for the most part, it will just be my daughter and I traveling, so even less I have to pay :):)

Glad to hear somebody else shares my opinion on the matter. I see a lot of posts claiming they got a few hundred off on their cruise fare, but without details it's kinda meaningless. Not that I'm not happy for those people, but if you originally paid a significant amount more than a cabin is worth and then it came down in price later... well that's just kind of expected I think. Whereas if you paid $800 for a balcony and then it dropped $200... well that's a much bigger deal.

For my upcoming 7 day cruise on the Dream, we got our Cove Balcony at $639pp. Since then the price has risen to $729. I'm not expecting a price drop at this point, glad to have gotten in when I did. After taxes and pre-paid gratuities, our total came out right around $1600.

I agree with the OP, decreases or upgrade prices that are posted without a point of reference is unless and usually ends up in 'what a great deal' or 'I would never pay for that upgrade'

if you book an ES rate a year in advance and get a upsell call, your offer is going to seem a lot worse than a person that booked after final payment was due, paid an assumed higher rate and got the same call.

or maybe we could just reduce the number of 'I saved this much' threads as they didn't do much for me

My next 2 Casino FREE cruise cost me:

8D balcony With insurance and port and tax fees = $484.92 for 2 ppl

I get $100 OBC and $100 for stock which brings it down to $284.92 but all grat and parking at Baltimore to that amount..I am not sure how much parking is..

Still a great price[emoji106]

So I booked 2 cruises[emoji41]

Hope this helps the OP.

I did just a few dollars better. We booked on the Dream for January 2015 at $609pp for our cove balcony. We booked in the 1st week of February this year, so it was probably at it's lowest. We came out at $1490 something with insurance but not gratuities yet.

Ha! That's actually funny to hear. I remember ours being marked at $609 as well, but I waited too late and got the $639 price.

I paid 1358 for me and my wife; a deck 8 balcony on the breeze 6 day in September. But I also had a 400 cruise credit. So I only paid 958.

Price has gone up for the same room 40 bucks.

Why do people get so testy about what they paid. It's like your age if you don't wanna give it, just don't post, you come off as being conceded when you try to "correct an injustice" that isn't one.

I have been on 9 cruises this year. :) 3 more are booked, but probably will pick up some late deals, especially for Bermuda. I am fortunate- I don't pay for any air, so already this year, I have sailed out of LA, Sea (3), Mia, ,(3), NYC, Mco I will be in Barcelona in October, and Anc next month, YVR in Sept. was in Msy for Jazz Fest for 2 weeks. :)

My bargain this year, was $1050 with taxes for 3 in a cheap inside cabin in January on the Dream. small OBC of $30 (which I actually do not want, I always strive for low prices to begin with, so I have more flexibility with early saver and don't have to worry about OBC being "taken away" etc) This is not counting my stock benefits, which aren't "taken away". :)

Ok, I'll chime in....:D

We booked our cruise in February, for July 5th, on the Breeze.

We knew summer cruising was going to be pricey.

We paid a grand total of $4220 for three in a Lido Balcony (8F)

Well, after all of the great sales they ran, our final was $2770.00:eek:

Also, we were able to snag $126 in OBC. Over 1500.00 in Price Drops.

We are happy.

This is actually less than what we paid last April, for an 8 nighter, also.:D
