MSC Yacht Club Questions

Good afternoon

 

We are thinking of taking a Med cruise on MSC Splendida, in a Deluxe Yacht Club Suite (YC1), but I do have the following questions which I am wondering if somebody can help me with:

 

 

Is it possible to dine in-suite from the main dining room menu?

 

Is it possible to purchase wine and/or liquor by the bottle on the ship for consumption in the cabin?

 

Can we bring any wine or liquor onto the ship for consumption in the cabin?

 

I understand there is a dedicated restaurant for Yacht Club guests, serving complimentary food and drinks. Is the complimentary wine served by the bottle or by the glass - ie can you get a bottle for the table rather than having to ask for a glass at a time? (Yes, I know there's a lot of wine involved, but one has to get one's priorities in order...) :D

 

Is there any open seating dining?

 

Are there tables for two in the restaurant(s) or are all tables shared?

 

I have scoured the Internet and have found only scant and/or conflicting information concerning these things. Appreciate any information, therefore! Thanks a lot!

I will answer your questions from my experience in the wonderful Yacht Club.

 

Unless you are sick you cannot dine in your cabin. However you have a free pizza delivery from a menu to the cabin. Excellent italian pizza. In addition there is roomservice with salads and sandwhiches. Breakfast can be ordered to the cabin.

 

We ordered wine by glass for delivery to the cabin. I'm not sure if you can order a bottle. From the bar in The Top Sail Lounge you can have as much wine as you want, also bring to the cabin.

 

Complimentary wine is served in glass by the waiters in the dedicated restaurant. You will not run empty :D You can also order a bottle of upscale wine from the sommelier in the restaurant. He will place the bottle on your table and also store it for the next evening if you want. Open seating and plenty of tables for two.

 

You cannot bring wine or liqour onboard for consumption in the cabin. A bottle of champagne is waiting for you in the cabin upon embarkation and the minibar is free.

 

We love the Yacht Club and we higly recommend it :D

On Divina we found travel sizes of "MED" shampoo, conditioner, lotion and bar soap in our stateroom. They are made in Germany:

They do have a very reasonable laundry package at $25 for 20 items (or $40 for express service). Items can be sent in batches throughout the cruise. I. Early always use it even if I'm not running out of clothes to wear but just to have less laundry to do when I get home.

I agree, the trouble is my husband will only go in the YC now.My goal is to cruise on every ship in the fleet with a YC. 3 down one left to go and more being built.

YC is the ONLY way to go. And if you can get one of the square cabins, then it's even better! We loved Divina YC so much in March we turned around and booked same cabin (15028) for September. You will LOVE it!

We loved it so much that I scanned the dates for next year and found a week where I could book a yc3 for next March. Close to the description of a yc 2 but add a balcony.

They only apply to the YC club area which includes the YC lounge, one bar (on the sun deck) and the YC dining room and NOT in any other bars.

We just left the Yacht Club on the Preziosa today and I can fervently say it was worth every cent! We had a wonderful time.

 

We had a table for two at the restaurant for every meal we ate there with the exception of the one time we asked for a table for four so we could dine with roll call friends who were also traveling in the Yacht Club. The wine was free flowing and I rarely managed to finish all that was poured for me. And to be honest, we didn't have any compulsion to drink at any of the non-YC bars as they were just too busy and noisy for our tastes.

 

We are very glad we changed our minds early enough to be able to upgrade our 13th deck aft balcony to a YC1.

The butler escorted us to dinner on the first day and on and off the ship for excursions. They also bought us our room service, newspaper, laundry etc. We weren't terribly demanding and we found the most valuable service they provided was to help us jump the queues for getting on and off the ship. We loved that!

 

We didn't tip at all. MSC has a no tipping policy and we were in Europe where tipping is not a common part of the culture. We paid our auto gratuities in advance and feel that this covered it quite adequately.

 

We will be writing to MSC and mentioning by name all those who provided exceptional service. I feel that this helps them long term and shows our appreciation in a very tangible and recognized way.

We did make sure we got the future cruise credit! And we are planning on taking the kids on a cruise in December but it will probably be on Carnival simply because that's what works with location and time. :D

 

And before we go home we've got a night in Venice, three in Paris and one in London! Life is good!
