College Football Game on Embarkation Day

Recommended Posts

We're leaving on October 4th out of San Juan on JOS, I would like to know if there would be anyplace on board to watch a game. We don't depart till around 8:30, so I was hoping to watch the OSU game at noon. Are the bars open at that time? Thanks for the help.

Their should be at least one game on but you never know which Game. it will depend on the overall importance of the game on a national basis most likely.

I also love my college football we will be on cruise Sept. 13th and have no idea who I will get to watch. Gophers play at TCU so I doubt it will be the Gophers. I see you are from Indiana but is your team the Buckeye's

GO BIG 10

Is this the game that you call football but only kick the ball at the kick off and for a field goal and throw it to each other the rest of the time???

It will depend if any big Netball games are on oops sorry Basketball games have taken place the night before as you will get the replays from those. Even if the bars are not open the Tv's are normally on so you can sit and watch anyway .

It will also depend on if you have managed to board by by 1200 as well.

Enjoy your cruise.

Thanks for the info. We hope to be on as soon as we can but if I can get the 2nd half I'll be happy.

Gopher, Born in Ohio, work brought me to Indiana. Always a Buckeye though.

Try the sports bar, deck 6, just forward of the Casino.

I have noticed on past cruises college games that are shown on the ship are hit and miss as to which games will be shown. Usually if there is a key match up of top teams that game might be shown. I found the feeds that the ships get do not carry very many college football games.

The channels they show are ESPN Caribbean 1 and 2. You can look up their schedule before leaving. As Eng points out, the afternoon games are not exactly the big games, since ESPN shows more on a regional basis.

But the night game will be the highlight game which is shown on ESPN or ABC, from what we've seen.

GO BLUE!:D

If the game starts at noon, you can watch the game at a bar in San Juan, then board after the game. Even though it is a "big" game, sports are limited on the ship. It all depends how important the game is to you. If you board the ship, you are taking a chance to not see it.

But we already have a game called "hand ball"

To each his own!

The OSU (and Maryland) website still shows game time as TBA, but anyway....

Combine the fact that OSU will be highly ranked and this will be Maryland's first home B1G conference game probably increases the odds that it will be on one of the ESPN networks but even then I wouldn't get your hopes up. If you really want to see the Buckeyes put up 50+ on the helpless Terps, I'd suggest you trade emails with a couple of sports bars in Old San Juan to see if they show college football.

Before the game, you have to go to Sorrento's. Get 3-4 slices of pizza, any flavor will do. Then, take that snack and send it to Urban. He'll need it for the post season. ^_^

Go gators!

(Ok, go back to legitimate conversation now :-P)
