judyf Posted August 8, 2005 #1 Share Posted August 8, 2005 I'm looking to book a cruise in April for when I can get off from work. I'm interested in the 4/7/05 sailing on the Princess Sun. We love the itinerary and the 10 days, plus the free style dining concept. I know it's different on Princess compared to NCL but we like the idea to eat when we are hungry and not at a certain time. With the ships we've been on (see signature) what are the difference we should expect on the Princess Sun? Will there be enogh for a mother 67 & daughter 46 to do in the evening to keep busy? We haven't tried Princess yet and I like to try all the different lines. Any tips or suggestions? Thanks
coiran Posted August 8, 2005 #2 Share Posted August 8, 2005 We have been on the Disney Wonder - The cabins (inside) on the Sun are smaller than the Wonder - however - I think the activities and dining and price make up for that - we spend very little time in the cabin. The Sun is our favorite next to the Regal. Go ahead and book - you will enjoy. Ron
judyf Posted August 9, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted August 9, 2005 Thanks for the reply. Anyone else have info on the Sun?
Druke I Posted August 9, 2005 #4 Share Posted August 9, 2005 I like the Sun class ships very much - their minis are very large, as large as full suites on some ships. Your question is very broad - scroll back a page or two, there are many varied reports on the Sun, the good and the bad.
LuAnn Posted August 9, 2005 #5 Share Posted August 9, 2005 We were on the Sun to Mexico in 2002 and loved it...especially the Pizza available late into the night! (good after visiting the shows) There are so many things to do that I can't imagine you won't find many things/events to occupy your time! Enjoy!!! calikak Posted August 9, 2005 #6 Share Posted August 9, 2005 We were on the Sun in May. We enjoyed the ship, although our particular sailing was very crowded (lots of 3rd & 4th berths in use) and we happened to have a very bad waiter team in the traditional dining room. There were tons of activities going on all the time. Daytime activities really depend on who the cruise director is, and that can change, so I won't comment on those other than to say that ther was plenty going on when we were on the ship. Evening activities included stage shows, a comedian, and several musical acts, and of course the casino and pools and disco and stuff like that. If you can afford it, the minisuites on the Sun are fantastic, with jetted tubs and separate shower, and a large sitting area. I especially like the pizza place on the Sun, the food there is fantastic. I would definitely sail on the Sun again.
juliepaule Posted August 9, 2005 #7 Share Posted August 9, 2005 Hi Judy and everyone else, My sisters and I are already booked on the April 7 10 day cruise on Sun Princess. We are so looking forward to this cruise. Vivian will be cruising for the first time. Yvette for the 4th time and as far as myself 8 or 9th time. We were very lucky to get a balcony for 3 people. Otherwise we would have had to go for the Mini suite. And we did have a budget. Imagine we booked in early June. Now there are no regular balcony cabins for 3 or 4. they are all booked. We are your mother's age. But always raring to go and boogie on down. My husband and I did a New Years cruise on Princess and loved it. I do not know if we are going to book casual dining. We are partial to routine and like seeing the same people and getting to know them during our meals. But hey, one never knows. I hope the activities are good. Wine tasting is always my favorite. My sisters, Yvette, Vivian and me Julie
judyf Posted August 10, 2005 Author #8 Share Posted August 10, 2005 Thanks so much for the info. Julie all girls cruise sounds like fun. I'm leaning towards booking this cruise. I just have to beg to get Friday 4/7 off. LOL Do you or anyone know the big difference say from CCL to Princess? Thanks Judy
Iamthesea Posted August 13, 2005 #9 Share Posted August 13, 2005 Judyf - This is off topic, but a couple of us have a question for you over at the Panama Canal board. Thanks! :) Here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=4452752#post4452752
DougH Posted August 14, 2005 #10 Share Posted August 14, 2005 FYI its the Sun Princess, not the Princess Sun. The Sun class ships are among my favorite, a good balance between being too small and too large. And I love the pizzeria :) Spent two weeks on her earlier this year in Alaska and am just about to book her sister the Dawn Princess to Mexico. judyf Posted August 14, 2005 Author #11 Share Posted August 14, 2005 FYI its the Sun Princess, not the Princess Sun.. I stand corrected! Thanks. I would already have this cruise booked if it weren't for two days I have to worry about getting off from work! I need to work on that! I going to the Panama board now!
