Retiringworkingstiff Posted July 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) I booked a Window Suite on the Caribbean Princess, Deck 6, Fiesta. No balcony. This time it’s just me and DS. I should have done more research before making the commitment but hindsight is a beautiful thing. DS really dislike the smell of smoke. He doesn’t have Asthma but does have a rather mild case of smoke allergy. (I am not a doctor so it might sound silly to some me not being too specific regarding his condition). Problems (maybe?): Looks like we are right below the section of the Casino where the slot machines are. From what I gather from reading some of the other posts here, that maybe the area within the casino where smoking is specifically allowed. We are very close to the Churchill Lounge, same deck. I believe smoking is always permitted there, cigars and cigarettes, probably not pipe smoking. Because of Princess Smoking Policies, smokers tend to congregate there. I hope someone who had stayed in one of those Window Suites on the CB can enlighten me … would DS have a problem? i.e. smoke filtering down from the casino above and smoke “floating over” from the Churchill Lounge into our cabin. Thanks to all in advance for your kind comments. Edited July 14, 2014 by Retiringworkingstiff
Hoosier-Cruiser Posted July 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted July 14, 2014 We were on the CB in June and never really noticed the smell of smoke. I was in Churchill's and the casino quite often and it was never smoky in either location. The only time I noticed the smell was when I was walking near the smoking areas on the open deck. It was especially bad by the Tradewinds bar, as the airflow is rather stagnant there.
Rare Lady Arwen Posted July 14, 2014 #3 Share Posted July 14, 2014 We were in a window suite on the CB 1 year ago and never, ever smelled smoke and actually never saw many people in Churchills. Don't worry, enjoy your suite!

cubfan63 Posted July 14, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 14, 2014 Same with us. We were in F309. I was in F307 on CB and smelled no smoke. Please note however that, at least when I was on in March 2013, the muster station was Churchill's lounge, which was close by and they did leave the doors open throughout the drill. cruzsnooze Posted July 14, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) I'd be more concerned from the noise from the casino then smoke. The great part about a window suite is that there will be no balconys to have smokers next to you. I think window suites were a wonderful addition. The great part about a window suite is that there will be no balconys to have smokers next to you. Two things... the window suites are in their own private corridor. If the doors at either end are closed, there's definitely no noise from the casino. Secondly, since smoking is prohibited on balconies on Princess ships, that point is moot. IECalCruiser Posted July 14, 2014 #8 Share Posted July 14, 2014 (edited) On the CB and the Golden, the Casino is one deck above on the Promenade deck. There is absolutely no noise or smoke impact from the Casino in the WS on those ships! The Casino is adjacent to the WS on the Grand, but there was no smoke or noise impact in our WS. There can be smoke from the cigar bar (Churchill's, Player's, Snooker's). Often the doors to the cigar bar are left open and smoke can be smelled at the entrance to the WS corridor by F301/F303. As long as the Steward keeps the door to the hallway closed it should not be a problem. Retiringworkingstiff Posted July 14, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted July 14, 2014 Thank you all for providing such assuring words! I wish I can thank each one of your individually. I tried before but haven't figured out how to do multi-quote within a reply yet. I can now breathe easier (no pun intended). Thanks again and cheers everyone, enjoy your cruises!
