I can get the Radisson Ambassador Plaza Hotel for $97 a night. Anybody ever stay there? It has lots of bad reviews on Trip advisor.

Regardless of your excellent pricing...if it has bad reviews that may be the reason why...something to consider.

That is what I was thinking but was wondering if there was opposing views on here.

We stayed there this past January for one night before boarding the Adventure of the Seas for two weeks! I said the same thing...how bad can it be? Well....we put in for the upgrade and got the room with the concierge....drinks at night and continental breakfast in the am. It wasn't much more in price. Then when reserving you are asked...if you want to upgrade blah blah blah and the room is available at check in, extra dollars. Well we got there at check in time and the room was not available and they didn't know how long it would be but the room we requested was ready. So we took that. It was a nice enough room. Pool area was very nice. Great bartender. Concierge area ok but nothing to write home about. Now sleeping...very very noise. We had kids next door to us. Maybe they don't have to go to bed early....still yelling and so forth at 230am....cause they are on vacation. Banging on the wall did not help and front desk not much help either. Then it was quiet...I said Amen Thank you Lord...and before I knew it ....ding ding 6am I could hear all of their cell phone alarms going off and OMG...needless to say I was grumpy. Hubby couldn't get the room cool enough for me. For one night, you won't die...lol it is a great price compared to others. We are using points this next trip for Embassy Suite as we have family coming with us. Just go with the flow...it was clean...bathroom was clean....good places to eat around it and we felt safe...walked on the beach. I would stay here compared to the Comfort Inn for sure. We always see the flight attendants and pilots staying here when we have visited the casino...and figured it must be ok if they stay here. Now the rooms I think that have the ambassador privileges i think is what we had. They were updated and in the newer section. There is a another wing that we had requested the upgrade for but housekeeping didn't know how much longer they were going to be getting the rooms ready and it was already check in time at that point and a long day of travel. Good luck.

Always check the site that let's you bid for hotel rooms and do your homework. Got the Sheraton Hotel and Casino (Pan-Am pier where the ship docks) for $90/nt. A 2 min cab ride from the pier. There's no reason to pay full price unless you must have a certain hotel. That being said, if you know how to use the bidding site, you can pretty much guarantee the hotel. :)

As a side note, for our upcoming cruise on the Freedom I got the Hyatt Regency Downtown Orlando for $90/nt on the bidding site as well. It almost always works.

We stayed there a few years back and found it to be a bit (shall we say not clean) in public areas. However, the location was good.

I can't comment on specific hotel, but I use review sites a lot for research, and look at the "why" behind a low review. DH and I are pretty laid back people, so a lot of the reasons people give a bad review, are not things that would necessarily bother us. Keep this in mind. Good luck!

We stayed at the Radisson Ambassador for a couple of nights precruise in December of 2012 (see review of Victory in signature for pics) and thought it was quite nice. Granted it was not as nice as some but for the price it was great. I think we got it on price line for $85 a night. Enjoy your stay and your time in San Juan, it is a great place.
