Indy Christmas cruise

Recommended Posts

So, DH decided today we should cruise for Christmas this year. We just returned from Alaska on NCL. Our first and last time with them... Our kids were bored on NCL, but it was a family trip so had to go. So many things were so, so bad on that trip. Never again! We did Freedom for New Year's 2013 and had a great time. Our kids loved the ice skating, Flowrider, etc. How is Christmas at sea? Seems to be more cabin availability for the 12/20 vs. 12/28 cruise... Is Christmas less popular? We looked at Disney but can get 2 balconies for 8 nights, pre-cruise hotel, rental car & first class air for the cost of 1 balcony & 1 interior on DCL. So, back to RCL it is. Any advice for making a great Christmas cruise? Kids will be 11 & 14 this time. Thanks!

We are spending Christmas aboard the Freedom this year. My kids are a year younger than yours and this will be our third Christmas at sea.

Two words....Love it.

No stress, just a very relaxing time spent with the family and spending Christmas day on a tropical beach or at sea.

Santa does visit Christmas day with gifts for the kids and there is a special Christmas dinner.

We take a small Christmas tree for our room and a couple of mall gifts for the kids. We actually do the larger presents before we leave. We also have several strands of battery operated Christmas lights that we bring to decorate the cabin and balcony.

We have found that while the week of Christmas is still at a premium price wise it is not as much of a premium as New Years. The ship will still be full with lots of families.

We're sailing at Christmas this year! First time.

Can you tell us about the dinners on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day?

And anything special about breakfast on Christmas morning?

Christmas day dinner is the only special menu, but Christmas morning they do put egg nog out.
