Book your packages at least a week before!

Although the website says you can book your drink packages until 3 or 4 days before departure, you cannot! I tried to book on the phone last night ( Monday) and after being on hold for 45 minutes gave up. This evening after 40 minute, a representative picked up and told me that all drinks packages need to be booked at least a week before. This is crazy. MSC staff - you need to get this sorted out. What a bad start to a vacation :mad::mad:

Tim .... If only that was possible! book via a TA and the site will not let you book either drinks packages or tours and tells you to contact the TA ... things on the useless website go from Bad to Worse.

Same here, the only drink package that I can't book online was the Doremi - they don't seem to understand why it isn't an online option. But I could book vouchers, packages, shore excursions online. Though only thing I found weird is I couldn't book any drink vouchers for sodas for either of my kids who are 16 and 19. I had to put in my name, but couldn't reserve for them.

I ended up with a "work around" with a nice lady in Customer service, but I found out more info to share.

Online, you can book packages no less than four days before BUT, something I noticed yesterday evening when I was still trying to do it online: The date on the bottom of the page was "tomorrow" so to speak, from where I was on US Eastern time. I imagine that even the MSCUSA site, as well as the main MSC must be running on Italian time, which is five or six hours ahead. So, instead of at least four days before, you should think ahead more. I should have done it a week ago, but was waiting for all of the family to be together to decide what they wanted.

To book by phone, you need to do it no later than 7 days before. Of course all of this can be done on board, but that is with a 15% extra charge. They know the website is confusing, and are working on improving it.

So now, hiccup dealt with, we are all smiles again ;):):)

1) It costs 15% extra once on board

2) Varies by region - not available in most of the World - and "pop-up live chat" sounds a bit porno to me.

Used the website to book some drink vouchers over a week ago for a Sept. sailing. No email was received back so have no idea if I really have booked the vouchers. What has been others experience?

Website is still a pile of dog droppings! had another go at booking drink package but just keeps returning to the page that says book package! also tried to book a tour only to be told "there are no tours for this cruise" contact the TA you booked with ? what for if you are telling me there are no tours ... Despite the fact that others have booked the same tour with MSC!! go figure.

MSC in my opinion have the worst cruise booking website in the World.

If you've not got an email, you've not completed the booking. I made that mistake a few cruise back. You have to ensure you check out your basket. I always take my email with me as a few times, the ship has no record of your booking but if you have proof, it gets sorted out reasonably quickly. If you don't have evidence, the ship emails Napoli and you'll be lucky if they've sorted it out by the time the cruise ends!

My DH called today and got them to send an email reply showing we purchased the vouchers. Unfortunately the vouchers were charged right then to the credit card we have on file with MSC so will not qualify for spending points, I guess.

Marguarite, this seems to be the problem when phoning even in your case when checking to see if it had been purchased.

Another time just check your shopping cart, even pretending to book an excursion, and it should show. It always says print a copy and take it with you to show on board.

You are right only onboard spending qualifies for points.
