Breakaway Waterfront.... A ghost town

I thought the Waterfront looked very nice until I realized it was full of smokers. Same with H2O-sat in the bar area, smokers. So I avoided those spots. Same with LeBistro-thought the "outdoor" café area was cute but could smell the smoke drifting down from the casino. Also the BA was the first casino I ever saw that put slot machines in the hallway. I realize that they have tried to utilize every possible space but didn't care for that setup or the smoke so for the first time on a cruise I never set foot in the casino.

This was my 21st cruise and I've never done a review but I am considering doing it for this one.

St. Louis Sal

I have to totally agree. We avoided the waterfront because of the smokers. We had to also request a table inside up in the back corner of Le Bistro. There is no way we could eat with the smell of smoke. The atrium area was horrible also.

It's very windy out there. Wind blowing over your hot food. Doesn't go together.

Also people just don't want to pay for the "special" Restaurants. I think this is one of NCL biggest failure. People just don't want to pay for food when they can get it for free.

We love the specialty restaurants. We don't eat dinner in the regular dining rooms at all. Every might is a specialty meal. It must not be just us either as all the restaurants are full

when we dine.

Lots of people eat all their dinners in the specialty restaurants.

We will have 12 dinners on our Breakaway cruise and we will probably eat 6-7 dinners in any of the specialty restaurants. The rest of our dinners will be in the Haven restaurant.

We might go to one of the main restaurants or the buffe 2-3 lunches.

Us too!

We are a party of 6 with 2-20 year old girls, 1-16 year old boy, my mom and my dh and I and I have all specialties booked for next week. For those that don't want to dine there, they don't need to spend the money but it is a nice option for those that do want more of a variety.

3 more work days!!

New policy clearly states for waterfront: On ships with The Waterfront, smoking is permitted on the starboard side excluding any food service areas.

Not wanting to get flamed or start another smoking discussion, but I do enjoy my pre-dinner cocktails and cigarettes on the Waterfront. Glad I will still be able to do that after November 1st.

Me to Tracy. I actually changed my cabin to right next to it for convenience.

It may be deck 18. Whatever the uppermost deck is....

While at the pool last week, we saw them on top of the ship, near where the two round gps or westher domes are. Men were measuring and drilling for several days, and on the next to last day, we saw white posts go up, similar to the posts holding the glass and railings around the ship.

I went up there and it seemed pretty obvious that they were set to expand the sun area up there. Sorry I didn't snap a pic.

Just confirming... this is the area they are expanding?

Yes, that's the area. Can't 100% confirm that they were def adding more of a sun deck! but they added the white posts on the entire border of the area in your pic
