Memmy09 Posted August 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2014 We booked this 1/4/15 sailing to introduce some very very reluctant friends to cruising. Now I am wondering if it will turn into a party cruise. Or not be a good introduction after all. It is our favorite ship, and we really want our friends to like it. Thoughts? Mistake? Other ideas? Thanks! Appreciate any input.
Clarea Posted August 10, 2014 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2014 I think it's too short to get a good feel for cruising. One day you're unpacking, the next day you're packing. I suggest at least 4 days.
griffy116 Posted August 11, 2014 #3 Share Posted August 11, 2014 I agree that even a 4 day cruise doesn't give you the opportunity to really experience a cruise. We did a 4-day to introduce our extended family to cruising and they felt they barely had time to unpack. By the way, they were also VERY reluctant and they LOVED it and became huge cruise fans. matj2000 Posted August 11, 2014 #4 Share Posted August 11, 2014 Complete waste of time. If you go don't bother bringing a change of clothes....
JasonV1 Posted August 11, 2014 #5 Share Posted August 11, 2014 Did a 2 day on Carnival, big time booze and gambling cruise. Only did it to get 10 cruises ahead of deadline for loyalty program changes. Not for the prudish, but otherwise ok. As others said it takes at least 5 days; at least then you can usually go somewhere other than the Bahamas. I like Bahamas for scuba diving and Atlantis but that's it. Merion_Mom Posted August 11, 2014 #6 Share Posted August 11, 2014 I would only do a two night cruise under one of these specific scenarios: 1. It's free 2. Back to Back with a 'regular' cruise. :)
MattInFLL Posted August 11, 2014 #7 Share Posted August 11, 2014 2 days is too short to get a taste for cruising as a first timer. But I disagree that you need a week. Plenty of people (like me) enjoy 3 and 4 day cruises, even to the Bahamas.
