I have been on 3 cruises and this being my 4th , first one on NCL. Lost my friends luggage to start and from desk did nothing to try to correct it or call the room stewards to find it. She found it around 645 pm on wrong floor and wrong part of ship. Massages fro ladies- not so relaxing , guests yelling down hall saying "Hey do u know how to get on the wifi , and where are the lockers?" Complained and they comp'ed dinner in Teppanyaki for her family , and refunded her $270 for massage and my wife $200 facial. Florida was good on and off ship. Great Stirrup Cay- had tender number 3 so went to location when called. Line was already 400 deep we were in the casino on line . Tenders had huge swells like 8-10 feet and made it very hard to get onto them. It created a VERY dangerous unsafe condition on line as people were wrapped around the entire boat and NEVER made one announcement. We eventually got on after an hour or so wait. Others never made it as they cancelled trip to island. Atlantis next day was good and easy. Steak house that night waited 2 1/2 hours for steak needless ti say we told manager we weren't paying and he agree. Never had desert as we had to pick up kids at kids club. Specialty food place very good buffet was a disaster people pushing arguing and toooo many people to even relax while eating. Let me say this, I'm not a stuck up person or expect people to pamper me, BUT very few employees said hello to us, and lots of tables with food on them glasses on them and drinks spread across them with ZERO cleaning up. we actually tried cleaning up , there were no places to put the dirty dishes etc , they didnt have any bus boy type trays to put stuff on. Its was noticeable and lots of people agreed the service was lacking. pool activities - 30 minutes per day kids needed more stuff. ROCK Climbing wall- open 2 hours per day ????!!! Come on who is scheduling this and how do they say thats enough, 3 walls one employee!!????? Super disappointed in NCL just expected BETTER service . We did complain and they did comp just about everything but that wasnt the point , i would have rather paid and been happy then to complain and be upset,. The last day people stole out chairs as we were watching the 30 minutes of our kids plying ben bag toss. they refused to leave after big arguement security came and finally kicked them out considering the wives got up at 715 to get the chairs. The pool boys for drinks , 2 of them , Trust and Fernando were awesome especially with the drink plans !!!! Rooms were nice clean as well as most of the hallways and main lobby ... Stayed in 8110 , 8108 (Kids) but wouldn't go again on NCL just my 2 cents

I was on this exact cruise and the tender situation frustrated the hell out of me. I talked to Tony, the hotel director and he explained what happened, his errors, and what he'll do next time. They were ALL surprised by the strength of the sea swells. Everyone who wanted to go to the island eventually made it and they did extend the day by an hour. They didn't cancel tenders

As for the the buffet, yes, there were messy tables. We were sitting and Tony happened to walk through and he got on his phone and asked the supervisor what was happening and if they needed help.

I wish they would've extended the buffet time at GSC - most of us didn't get to the island until they were closing the food. Those frozen drinks hit hard without food :D

I agree service was very uneven at restaurants.

Luggage is possibly lost when they start making shipwide announcements which does happen

We leave Saturday on the Gem. Really looking forward to our second NCL cruise out of NY. (Breakaway was last summer, with more than 20+ cruises on other lines also) Have read mixed reviews on Gem. Tendering to GSC seems to be a bit of an issue on some of the sailings. We always keep an open mind when cruising, and are very easy going. Yes, there have been some glitches on our cruises, but nothing that has caused us to "get comped" for almost everything due to our constant complaining! That must have been some disagreement about lounges if security was called! We always say the first "hello" and smile at the workers on a ship. Have literally never NOT gotten a "hello" or smile back! It is unfortunate you did not like your cruise.

It wasn't that the luggage was "lost". I guess when we went to front desk and asked the front desk about it , the front desk said "don't worry it will show up eventually " that is terrible customer service. They should have called the stewards on the floor to look for it. Thats what I was expecting.. As far as the cruise it just looked like they were totally understaffed. Tony as well as Gary said they blew the GSC as no communication was given to guests. They did cancel tenders for about an hour. Just frustrating cruise we al know u can't control the weather and mother nature but hey just keep the 3,000 paying customers informed thats all I was asking.

Our last cruise on the GEM our luggage still wasn't there at 9:30 p.m. We had been to front desk several times. They had us go thru the untagged ones, and ones suspected of alcohol - no luck. They also told us not to worry, it sometimes takes several hours to straighten all the luggage out. Stewards are busy - reorganizing rooms, following up with guests, etc. Our very wonderful steward, seeing us getting nervous about our suitcases, did some checking and found our bags and one other, in a store room. With all the luggage they have to load and sort, it certainly is understandable that some of it gets waylaid.

I just sailed the Gem in January and found it to be quite the opposite of yours. In terms of luggage, I thought they had until 7pm to deliver bags to your room? At least that was the announcement made on our sailing. I also called to inquire about when I saw other people got their bags on my deck (prior to 7pm) and received a similar response of "Don't worry. They're still unloading everything. The bags will show up eventually," but to me, the response was completely adequate considering I called prior to the announced delivery time.

Did they announce when you would have your bags by?

Also, sorry to hear about everything else being negative. I found the staff so friendly and helpful during my sailing. I hope things haven't taken a turn for the worst!

No offense to the OP but REALLY!!!! My guess is that once one tiny thing went wrong, you were just looking for bad things to happen. No vacation goes 100% smooth, it is all in how you manage the bumps that will make or break your vacation. Looks like the first bump broke both your axles on your "vacation bus". May your next vacation be more to your liking. Good luck.

But hey, you still got a ton of free stuff so I would not be complaining. Sounds like the best vacation ever
