Quoting Elephant 98 post #239.

Quote begins:

I did a google search of "Dynamic Dining Q & A," and the top hit was a pdf document that Royal has posted on its website. It confirms that the 3 free restaurants on the Oasis class ships will each have two rotating menus during a cruise and that there will also be a separate menu of alternative dishes.

Q: Will menus stay the same in each restaurant every night?

A: Each restaurant features its own distinctive menu and ambience that remains consistent throughout the sailing. However, guests who return to a given restaurant can vary their dining experience by ordering different selections from the menu.

On Oasis Class, American Icon Grill, Silk, and The Grand will feature two menus that rotate midway through the cruise.

Q: Is there a basic menu that I can order from in each of the complimentary main restaurants?

A: Each restaurant offers a Simple Tastes menu consisting of traditional beef, poultry, fish and vegetarian options

Quote Ends.

Excuse me if this question has already been asked BUT............how are the many different dining venues going to handle special dietary needs? We have had the MDR head waiter help us with special needs meals - each night we would go over the next nights menu and have meals prepared, also our waiter would have soy milk available each night already on the table...........this was perfect. But now with DD - I wonder how the logistics will work.

Thanks............

I am happy with traditional dining, and wish one of the choices should be just as it is now.

The dining room on Navigator, for instance, is lovely after re-do, a waste of money if it is chopped up into several restaurants!

In addition, I don't wish to have to choose restaurants; when I choose a ship, a room, and a date, that's

all I want to have to do.

We have cruised with as few as 2 but normally with a group of 7 or 20+, so while I am concerned about the planning and availability aspect of DD, maybe the elevator usage will be more spread out? One can hope.

I have also been thinking about the demand for photos on formal nights. If the demand for photos is also more spread out, it would be great.

Isn't any night, or every night, formal night? I thought the only venue that will be formal is The Grande. And that is every night. So will the photographers be out every night?

Maybe I'm missing something here.

I keep seeing folks posting about 4 complementary venues. But, looking over the new deck plans for the Oasis and reading the reviews from those on the current TA, I only find 3.

There is no 'Chic', no 'Jamie;s Italian', no 'Michael's Genuine Pub'. Here's what I see as our options:

Full Service Complimentary -

Icon Grill (American comfort food)

The Grande Restaurant (formal, every night)

Silk (Pan-Asian)

Coastal Kitchen (Restricted - Suite guests only)

Self-Service Complementary -

Windjammer Marketplace (buffet)

Wipeout Cafe (poolside grill)

Park Cafe (sandwiches, salads & snacks)

Sorrento's (pizzeria, sandwiches, salads)

The Dog House (hot dog grill)

Cafe Promenade (pastries, sandwiches)

Vitality Cafe (health food)

Room Service (5:00 am - Midnight)

Full Service $pecialty Restaurants -

$95 - The Chef's Table (Gourmet)

$60 - Wonderland (Avant Garde)

$35 - 150 Central Park (Eurpoean)

$35 - Chops Grille (steakhouse)

$25 - Sabor's (Mexican)

$20 - Dinner Giovanni's Table (Italian)

$15 - Lunch/Giovanni's Table (Italian)

$6.95 + drinks - Lunch & Dinner/Johnny Rockets (diner)

$3.95 + dirnks - Breakfast/Johnny Rocket's (diner)

$5 + a la carte - Dinner/Izumi (Japanese teppanyaki/hibachi/sushi/sashimi)

$3 + a la carte - Lunch/Izumi (Japanese teppanyaki/hibachi/sushi/sashimi)

Other-

a la carte - Candy Beach ($ per/pound)

a la carte - Cups 'n' Scoops (ice cream)

$3.95 - Room Service (between midnight and 5:00 am)

The Oasis is getting the DD change next March....

Here is the breakdown of the Dinner Venues (atleast on the Oasis, not sure about the Quantum)

These are Complimentary:

1. American Icon Grill

2. CHIC... Not on Oasis

3. The Grande (Formal attire only)

4. SILK

There is Coastal Kitchen BUT it's exclusively only to Suites owners

Now these are Charge Restaurants $-$$$

1. Wonderland -$45 pp

2.Michael's pub ---A-La-Carte

3. Chops Grille--$35 pp

4. Jamie Italian-$25 pp

5. Chef Table-$89 pp

6. Izumi Japanese cuisine--A-LA-Carte

Not everyone cruising can afford to spend $50 - $200 more PER NIGHT over the cost of the cruise. For them, there are 3 options. And if you don't want to do formal night.. there are 2. Take off Silk which has an international flair that some families don't like and you've got one option.

I wonder if there is some way RCL would be willing to keep one dining room set up for traditional dining. If it's always empty, they have their answer.
