Celebrity rep at Miami International

Again, not wishing to labour the point, our experience [on three separate trips flying into Miami for a cruise] has been nothing but excellent. As I said in an earlier post, although we were the only Celebrity guests on out flight, the rep was still waiting for us after we were detained for 2 3/4 hours by Miami immigration.

We had a similar great experience flying into Rome when there were different, but multiple, reasons why we were late to emerge from the airport. There, the rep had found our luggage on the carousel and collected it together for us and we were in our van in minutes.

We have also been met by Celebrity or Azamara reps in Barcelona and Hong Kong without any problems but, thankfully, in case of those cases, we had appeared at the expected time.

You do have to read the instructions about where the rep will be waiting and look for the "X" sign but, for us, they have always been there and have been very welcoming.

We have been meet twice by a Celebrity rep. But have not found the service to be the same as in Europe. For clarification let me explain in Europe the Celebrity rep. escort you to a coach for transfer to the ship. You sometimes wheel your luggage to the coach other times you leave it in an area for transportation. Very simple.

When arriving in Miami we expected a similar service but failed to take into account that the hotel would be running the shuttle bus.

The Celebrity rep. meet us by the luggage carousel and ticked us off a list. She directed us to the hotel shuttle bus stop. We joined quite a long queue and were eventually transferred to the hotel and again queued to check in, we took our luggage with us. Next morning when returning to our room after breakfast, not included but fabulous by the way, we discovered our luggage was missing. The front desk soon explained that it had been collected for transfer to the ship. A Celebrity rep was downstairs in the foyer and gave us a time to catch the coach to the ship.

The second time was identical except for the fact we took a taxi with another couple from the airport to the hotel and to the ship as this was far more comfortable than waiting around for the Celebrity coach. We paid for the Taxi. There are set prices for some journeys in Miami. I recommend the taxi depending on the numbers waiting for the hotel shuttle bus and the timing of the coach from the hotel always assuming you can factor the extra cost into your budget.

Hi Project gal

Thanks for the reply.

As long as I have the hotel info, which at present I can not retrieve from the Celebrity web site (Can't get into pre/post cruise planner. Problems with web site). I will get this from TA.

I can make my own way to hotel by taking a taxi as suggested by welshfamily.

Seems like it is very much hit and miss with regards to the rep, but will not allow this to be a big problem.

When we cruised with Royal Caribbean from New York we never found a rep at the airport. We went straight to courtesy bus area and took bus to hotel.

Thank you all for your help it has been a great.

I will register for meet and mingle at the weekend hope to speakk with Triock on that forum.

Once again many many thanks

we tend to do our own flights and hotel now, as there can be quite a difference in cost and we often go out for a period beforehand. I have used celebrity full package in the US (Fort Lauderdale) multiple times and Venice and Rome and have always found a rep (sometimes not as obvious as could be), who was waiting for us, directed us and luggage to the right transport and made sure we were on it - or got a colleague to

I would expect that you get the same service but make sure you know the phone number and hotel details etc as ProjectGal advises
