Mdr menu has a few special items each night and a bunch of regular items like a steak, spaghetti (too salty in my opinion), lasagne, flounder. Some of the daily specials I like included the Turkey, barbecue platter. Tonite they are having prime rib before arriving in Victoria.

Captain is Gunnar Hammering.

staff captain is Mattias Anderson.

Hotel director is Cary Tumecamo

Cruise director Dan the Man Olsson.

I have especially been impressed with Dan. He is the closest director I've seen to the legemdary Gary Glading.

Thanks for the info. That makes sense and now that you say that I do remember the steady part of the menu and the rotating part. I guess this just means that I need many many more cruises. :p

Coyboy we are boarding on the 3rd, would love to hear about the entertainment. I know it will probably change between the Alaskan and Panama Canal sailings, but curious to know everything. :)

While everyone has different tastes, I would highly recommend seeing the Oh What a Night group - they performed twice, once as the exclusive attraction, the second as the farewell variety show where they played for the second half of the show. The only other performance (on my 8 sailings) that was as well received was 4Ever, the Italian group that appeared on the Jade.

The Pearl production cast was great - their "Encore" performance highlighting selections from Broadway shows was very good. The lead females did a great job with the very difficult vocals from "Wicked."

I thought the ship's band performance of Tina Turner was excellent....if you like her music!

Enjoy your sailing!

Hi, we saw so so many whales. Got a lot of pictures of them jumping into the air as well. I will post them when I get home.

I can tell my att is available because it my says AT&T LTE or 4G. If u are getting the ship it will say something else. My roaming is off. So I can't get ship data. Hope that helps.

Peal is awesome.

Sestar - Looking forward to seeing your whale photos. I was running laps on the 13th deck as we met the whales on the way to Juneau (I think it was about 11 AM). I have never seen so many whales next to a ship and was captivated by their twisting and jumping. We saw a few whales on a past Alaskan cruise but nothing like what the Pearl Experienced. I would be interested in knowing if people who did the Whale watching excursions from Juneau on our sailing felt they had a better show than they did watching them from the Pearl. I'm not so sure I would want to be in a small boat any closer to the whales from the Pearl was.

I'm in your spot next sunday, take care of her for me. Have a wonderful trip.

(watch the night skies... aruoras have been spotted all week... )

If you hit any of the bars, look for Ferdi (Ferdinand). We were on the Pearl over New Years in the Caribbean, and he was a very good bartender and a whole lot of fun. Always remembered our names. He was the main reason the cruise was so much fun. I won't sail over a holiday like that again. Way too many kids running around. Enjoy your cruise!!

It was an unbelievable day on Glacier Bay yesterday aboard the Pearl. Skies were blue with scattered clouds and the occasional layer. We got up close to the Marjorie and Grand Pacific Glaciers, then were able to linger a bit in the Johns Hopkins inlet to see the Lampugh Glacier up close.

This is Ketchikan today, September 26th. It is stunning weather once again! Seriously, I packed a rain suit for this trip and haven't used it once. Jeans and a tshirt today.

Disembarked the Pearl at Vancouver today. It was a fabulous Alaska cruise with amazing clear and warm weather.

Sad to say that disembarkation was at the old Ballantyne cruise terminal in Vancouver and it was chaotic to say the least. Even for the concierge to escort Haven guests off the ship, it was difficult. However, that won't put a damper on the amazing sights we saw and the great food and hospitality we enjoyed.
