txgolfergrl Posted September 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted September 17, 2014 I have a large group that wants to make a reservation. I was told by RCI customer service to go to Chops as soon as we board to make the arrangements. Will Chops be open (taking reservations) before we sail away? Thanks for any help/advice. Life is Good Cruising Posted September 17, 2014 #2 Share Posted September 17, 2014 When you board, go to Chops and someone will be there to take your reservation.
crookedhalo Posted September 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted September 17, 2014 Another way to do this is to make sure that all the involved reservations are linked to yours. You can then call and make reservations for everyone and they can call in individually and pay for their reservation afterwards. I have done this two times for groups ranging from 3 to 5 cabins. HeartCruzs Posted September 17, 2014 #4 Share Posted September 17, 2014 If one of you is a Diamond Plus / Pinnacle member or sailing in a Grand Suite or above, you can contact the concierge via email a few days before your sailing and they will make reservations on your behalf. Enjoy!
Hockey Guy Posted April 10, 2015 #5 Share Posted April 10, 2015 When making a reservation online for chops, Do they charge your credit card right away ? Also does it have to be the card that is assigned for on-board purchases ? Only my second cruise and have never dined at Chops.
cb at sea Posted April 10, 2015 #6 Share Posted April 10, 2015 Yes...on RCI, ANYTHING you book in advance, you pay for in advance! There's no problem booking onboard!

You can use any card for booking stuff ahead of time, it does not have to be the one that you check in with.

jamesr3939 Posted April 10, 2015 #9 Share Posted April 10, 2015 We had a group of eight one night and were able to make a reservation just the day prior. We had to adjust the exact time, but it wasn't an issue getting in.
jozzmenia Posted April 10, 2015 #10 Share Posted April 10, 2015 Is Chops worth the extra money on a 4 night cruise? If so, why? Just seems like there are plenty of options included.

bigque Posted April 10, 2015 #12 Share Posted April 10, 2015 Chops is not worth the money to us on any length of cruise. I agree. We use to like Chops but after our recent cruise we think we will pass from now on! They would have to make some dramatic changes or at least bring back the old menu. joecruz1 Posted April 10, 2015 #13 Share Posted April 10, 2015 I agree that Chops is not worth the extra $30 fee. Was very disappointed my first visit. On my latest cruise, if I wanted a steak, I just ordered it special in the MDR and the up charge was not as much as going to Chops.
jozzmenia Posted April 11, 2015 #14 Share Posted April 11, 2015 yea we're not going to use it. how is portofino? seems like also not worth $20 since they have italianish options included. I'm not clear on how the specialty restaurants work though. Is it all you can eat or is it just like one appetizer, one entree, one dessert or something? For those restaurants with a single cover charge, you can usually order multiple appetizers and one entree. They charge extra for entrees beyond the first.
