I was my own upgrade fairy

I did a mock booking this morning for our January cruise to see if the price of our OV had drop but then I saw the price for a guaranteed balcony was less than what we paid for the OV. I called my PVP, got it change to a guaranteed balcony and they will reimburse me 33$. Wow!! The worst part is that I wont know for a while what cabin we will be in but I have heard there is no real bad balcony on the Conquest, I hope it is true.:)

Upper Deck (#6) is above the Promenade deck......being above the casino, video arcade, aft lounge and show theatre can be noisy at times. We stay on Upper Deck whenever we can, but try to snag a cabin over gift shops. Also being under Lido deck pools can be noisy late at night when they clean the decks and move around furniture. Good Luck!! We do love balconies!

Cabin 6371 on the Conquest is by far the noisiest cabin I have ever been in. It's right over the casino band stand, with the speakers on the ceiling (meaning directly under the floor of our cabin). The sound was blaring into the room until the wee hours of the morning. If you happen to get that cabin or one close to it, call and try to change it. I would rather have had an OV cabin in a quiet location. The noise was intolerable.

If we happen to get one of those noisy cabin, I hope the fact that we like to stay up late, usually past midnight, will help to not be bothered too much by the noise. I will also keep in mind the suggestion to ask to be move if you get one of those but may be best to prepare for the worst and hope for the best. :)

Have any of you ever tried a guaranteed balcony? How did it turn out?

We didn't have balcony, but we had one each guaranteed IS and OV, and it's all good.

If you are up and about late anyway, it may not matter. What would bother me if I heard the "scraping of the chairs on the lido above" as I have heard others describe early in the morning. I'm not a late sleeper, but I want to sleep past 5-6!

We encountered the same thing on the Conquest. That was the lesson that taught us to always have a deck of insulation between you and Promenade.
