Cheers :(

So this upcoming 6 day cruise will be our 4th. All others have been 5 day, including a NYE cruise.

We are not considering Cheers for this one as we do NOT want to be limited to the 15 drink max. Now, in the past, our S&S accounts were $1k-1,400 or so by the end of the trip, which is fine with us.

We generally get the wine package for dinners and drinks and shots throughout the day could encroach on the limit sooner than we'd like on any given day.

NO, we won't be falling down drunk and unable to remember. Some people tolerate and handle it better than others. We aren't kids, early 40s... :p

Thoughts?

1. I am 26, my boyfriend is 30. We are both pretty big drinkers on vacation, and we both only hit the the 15 once! I guess it depends what you drink we are not beer drinkers. Also, you have to consider your trip- our cruise was from Baltimore to Bahamas, and NOT port intensive, so we were on the ship for the majority of the vacation- still only hit it once, and it was probably a good thing :) Either way, with the new Cheers price drop, it seems like the way to go!

2. We were told that you got cut off at 15 drinks whether you were on Cheers or not.

*Guests may purchase a round of drinks for themselves and friends. One drink will count towards the CHEERS! package and the remaining drinks will be charged to the guest’s Sail and Sign account

*Package allows for up to 15 alcoholic drinks per 24 hour period (6:00am-6:00am); once the limit is reached, the guest will not be served any additional alcoholic drinks

So buy a few 'rounds' for your friends.

No, you are not supposed to be able to 'buy' individual drinks for yourself and say 'don't count it'. The computer will keep track of your drinks on your sale and sign and will not allow additional to be rung up. Now if you find an employee willing to step outside the rules for you great! He/She is willing to risk their job so you tip good now!

Seriously, if you do not think 15 drinks a day is enough don't buy Cheers and simply try to find all the ins and outs of evading the rules for it. Why exactly are you asking if you should if you do not consider it adequate and you will spend additional money anyway? After all you may end up with employees that follow all the rules and then where would you be?

The "new Cheers price drop"??? Can anyone tell me about this?

From the Carnival website:

Using the CHEERS! beverage package, guests can enjoy a wide variety of wine, beer and spirits (including cocktails and frozen drinks), along with sodas and non-alcoholic frozen cocktails throughout the voyage at one convenient flat rate plus tax and a 15% gratuity added at the time the package is purchased.

3 day $55 per person/per day

4 day $45 per person/per day

5 and 6 day $42.50 per person/per day

7 days and longer $37.50 per person/per day

Prices are subject to change and price adjustments (up or down) implemented on the day of sailing will replace any previously advertised price.

The last time I cruised, in August 2014, their was one flat rate for all cruises - I think it was 42.50? I did a 7 day then, and my next cruise is a 7 day as well, so I will have a price drop.

Sorry, but this is 100% wrong. Ive purchased many many times. The bartenders will usually even help you keep count! Not all will though and we learned that on the first night of our last cruise. We were told when we hit 15, but prior to that nobody told us how many.

We went to the guest services desk and very politely explained our situation and that on our previous cruise all bartenders told us when we got to 13 and 14 so that we could buy our own. She advised unfortunately, once we hit 15, there was nothing she could do. She actually said "Prior to hitting 15, you can buy as many drinks as you wish."

And she was right. Ive done it now 3 cruises and as long as you tell them up front you are buying the drink and not using it for cheers, there was never once an issue.

When I was on the Miracle for the last Alaska cruise. They would not let me buy any drinks. Even when I told them I was getting the singers drink they took that off my 15 and gave him the beer. Was not happy about this and should have went to guest services about it. Next time I will. So much for they not sharing your dinks.

Did you actually read what you are responding to so strenuously? The first part comes directly from Carnival's own rules and FAQs. I said they are not supposed to do it however some will. The rules state you go past 15 and that is it. This was explained to me when I purchased the program that you could not buy yourself individual drinks and go past the 15 max. Yes, bartenders will do it, GS does not always know what they are talking about, and you will always be able to circumvent the rules for the sake of profit.

So no, it is not 100% wrong. At least read the post and attempt to understand it before sounding off.

Here is my plan sailing out of Galveston and wanting to purchase the Cheers Program....experienced. Will not be taking any shore excursions....this cruise going to say on the ship and enjoy the ride. Relax.....I will have a couple of Fuzzy Navels with brunch/breakfast. Diet Cokes (3) in the morning by the pool. Fun Frozen Drinks (2-3) in the afternoon by the pool. A Martini or two before Late Dining....Diet Coke (2) with dinner. Two after dinner drinks at the Comedy Club and finally another fun drink at the casino. My goal is to try new things.

Is the Cheers Program for me !!!!!!!

Is that a question? Pretty sure the Cokes don't count toward the 15.

Can anyone tell me if the Drinks on Us card in the casino counts toward the 15 drinks on Cheers? Or can you get those drinks while in the casino plus 15 drinks on Cheers in other parts of the ship?

I'd be interested in knowing that also:confused:. They do check your card everytime you get a drink using the "drink on us card" so they could be counting. If you know you qualify for the card I wouldn't buy the cheers pkg..

On a cruise last feb, a friend of mine qualified for the drinks on us card after he had just received his 15 drinks on cheers for the day and when he tried to order another the system would not allow them to serve him the next drink. However, on future nights, he was able to get drinks in the casino that did not count toward his 15 limit. Bottom line, at least this past feb, you can get drinks on the drinks are us card that does not count toward your 15, but once you reach 15 on cheers you cannot get drinks under either program.

You do know that the drinks on us card can only be used in the casino while you are playing.

YES, it's also very easy to swing into the casino and stand at a machine, order a drink and walk away. I have had the card many times and enjoyed drinks all the time, all day long.
