Thanks for the info re: laundry on Regal. We always bring quarters with us, but now I know not to bother since it takes tokens. Thanks for the helpful tip about the Tide pods too. I always do at least two loads even on a seven day in order to pack light.

Thanks for the incredible review! We will be on the Regal Princess in March and I enjoyed reading about your experience as this is our first time with Princess. Of course your details regarding the tours and ports were amazing! You got very in depth. I have only done land trips to Europe as DH thinks a cruise would not give enough time; However, when we negotiate our 2016 trips, I will make him read your review regarding how much you can fit into a day in port!!

Thanks again!

P.S. Your Venice sailaway shot reminds me of the closing scene of "From Russia with Love"...FABULOUS!

It was nice to be able to use my room card to buy the tokens using the vending machine in the laundry room. I'm usually lugging along about 2 pounds of American quarters with me!

Sirince Village

One of the many finished products for sale.

I later ran into a passenger on the ship who complained about the price she had paid at this shop - she later saw something quite similar for a much cheaper price in the bazaar. To me, there is no contest between a hand crafted, one of a kind, piece of art versus an assembly line trinket.

Wonderful review I enjoyed all the details. We also live in Edmonton and have a brother in law who is from Pakistan. Married to my sister. They attend South Kanni (sorry if spelt wrong).

Glad to run into an Edmontonian on cruise critic! If we run into each other at Walmart or Superstore, South Common, make sure you say hi - would love to talk cruising! Unless, of course, you run into me with my kids, then just feel free to ignore me. The kids would, I'm sure, be mortified that their lives are on display in a fairly public forum. I've broken one of the cardinal house rules - do not put your lives on display on social media. Oh, well, I owed it to all the CCers who've helped me out so much in the past!

Thanks for the great report. A similar trip is on my bucket list, but I have to save up for it. Now I have a better idea just how much I have to save. We are definitely a "private tour guide" family, so this was very helpful.

One thing to point out however. You're comparing dollars to euros... for most people, that's hardly a fair comparison.... a euro is worth about $.70, so yes, cruise line excursions are more expensive... but not nearly as much as you make it appear to be!

For the math impaired or just plain lazy, here are the comparisons....

Athens:

OP paid E341, which is $430. Ship equivalent is $600 (All prices are for a family of 4, counted all as Adults).

Kusadasi

OP paid E240 which is $302. Ship equivalent is $450

Mykonos

OP paid E59 which is $74. Ship equivalent is $200

Naples/Pompeii

OP paid E555 which is $700. Ship equivalent is $1400

Rome

OP paid E678 which is $855. Ship equivalent is $1300

Pisa/Florence

OP paid E500 which is $630. Ship equivalent is $800

Toulon

OP paid E171 which is $215. Ship equivalent is $240

You are soooo living my dream, split between Canada and Florida! I think, having grown up in a Fort McMurray and then lived in Edmonton since University, that I've more than paid my winter dues :D Those who live in the south have absolutely no conception of the nirvana like state that comes over northerners when they get off the plane in winter and set foot in FLL. Now, I just have to talk DH into a snowbird life!

Yes, we do love spending a good chunk of the winter away from here. We lived in Alberta for a few years, so we know the winters there are not great either! Everyone there winters in Palm Springs or Phoenix, so you have some great choices too!

I left out the Barca/London days as I wasn't sure if anyone would be interested in the non-cruise portion, but will definitely complete the journey since you've asked.

I would love to hear about your times in Barca and London. We love those cities as well and have stayed for pre and post cruise times there. I always write about my non-cruise portions in my reviews. It's part of the trip, so why not include it all! Loving your pictures too!
