seaofwonder Posted October 8, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 8, 2014 Really dumb question... We are booked on the spirit next May departing from venice. On the itinerary it shows: Sunday embark on venice Monday depart venice at 1 am So this means we really only have the full day/evening on Sunday to be in Venice, correct? So essentially Monday is a day at sea....we just start sailing at 1 am. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
travelhound Posted October 8, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 8, 2014 That looks like it's the case. The last time we left from Venice we got to the ship at 7:30 pm and sailed the next morning at 5 am. If we had never been in Venice before, it would have been a real bummer. If you haven't made flights yet, have never been to Venice, and can swing coming in a day early, I'd highly recommend it. It's good insurance to ensure you may the ship and obviously gives you a "real" day in Venice.
Rare fabnfortysomething Posted October 8, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) you have it correct you can embark just before lunch on Sunday but many people then travel back into Venice for sightseeing -you have to be back onboard before 12.30 am on Monday morning ie just after midnight if you miss the muster held around tea time there is a catch up on Monday morning-the at sea day Edited October 8, 2014 by fabnfortysomething

Check in with your bags early then go back into Venice coming back up until 12.30AM. You will have a letter at your room telling you when you can make up not attending the safety drill. Back into Venice for sight seing and get back late evening. If you haven't been to venice before, stay a night or 2 in a hotel. You will miss the muster drill and they will get you the next morning. You will find about 75% of the passengers did the same.
mypleasure Posted October 13, 2014 #11 Share Posted October 13, 2014 If you do Barcelona - Venice it IS an overnight in Venice. The ship comes into Venice during the early afternoon which is fantastic and then you can go into the city returning whenever. You have to leave your cabin and the ship the following morning. Having done it both ways I prefer Barcelona to Venice.
