Phamer55 Posted October 14, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 14, 2014 Has anyone ever done a cruise when embarkation is an overnight stay in port? I'm wondering how late check in would be the first night. I imagine there would be some cutoff, that people couldn't check in at 3am. Also, I assume muster drill would be the 2nd day. Phxazzcruisers Posted October 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 14, 2014 The ship is open 24 hours. Just notify them in advance if you are going to be late. The muster drill will be the second day before departure. Enjoy your cruise
Cruise Junky Posted October 14, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 14, 2014 We did this in Honolulu. Muster was 4:00 pm the second day. You could come and go as you please but I can't imagine the check in staff were there super late
Officer Dibble Posted October 14, 2014 #4 Share Posted October 14, 2014 We did this in Venice in September. We went in to the city in the afternoon and returned at about 8pm. There were still some passengers checking in then. The gangway is open 24 hours. OD
2552phxcrzr Posted October 14, 2014 #5 Share Posted October 14, 2014 While the gangway may be open for passengers who have already checked in and have their cruise ID cards, checking in may be a whole different matter. Not only would it depend on the cruiseline staff manning their desks, but also whether passport control kiosks are manned by the host country. We have done this a couple of times, actually checking in on day 2 on one occasion. The secret is to let the ship know your plans, and they will advise what and when etc.
Phamer55 Posted October 14, 2014 Author #7 Share Posted October 14, 2014 How do you learn whom to contact for an evening arrival? I doubt calling the main reservation line would work.
