But I can't see myself spending too much money in Freeport. Nassau will be where we spend most of our port money. I figure $150 should be enough for a souvenir, food, and maybe a drink or two. We're going to Blue Lagoon for the day there with the all inclusive beach day package. I never eat at the ports because there is plenty of food I want to eat back on the ship. It is 2015 almost. Clearly it is Carnvials fault for not having money catching devices on deck, or the wallet manufacturer for not making a wind proof wallet, or the wind itself is at fault. Did you go to guest services and tell them what happened, maybe you could get an OBC. I would have liked to been in line when you explained it and asked for restitution. This includes drinks, fun shop, pictures, bingo, casino, internet and tips for two adults two kids. This does not include excursions as I pay for that in advance. That's around $1,800.00 after port fee's, insurance, taxes, and gratuities. Then there's jewelry and watches, and pictures. That's around $1,500.00. Then there's 3 days of excursions that's about $550.00. There's the little gifts at each port that run about $300.00 to $400.00. Tips run about $100.00. Storing our truck for a week runs about $70.00. Gas to Galveston and back runs about $100.00. Sheltering our dogs and grooming them runs about $300.00. I had to stop going twice a year. Now we go once a year. I wanted to go again in November on a 5 day cruise. I got to but I got to work on quitting smoking. I'm sure our cruise will be cheaper the next time we go because we won't need the balcony... Sorry to bring smoking into this thread... Just giving the facts and how much it cost... Our last itinerary was a B2B on the Glory (7 nights with my wife) and Breeze (8 nights with all four of us, in 2 cabins). Additional costs were $3,018 (including about $500 in auto tips) and consisted of: - Travel day airline fees: $607 (included an unplanned re-booking fee that I'm still trying to recover from United) - S&S charges: Glory: $535 - auto-tips, $63 for food & drinks, $257 for internet (yes, we should have got a plan; no we were not expecting to have to rebook and reroute our kids while at sea), $66 for photos Breeze: $708 - auto-tips, $73 for food & drink, $17 for internet, $75 for photos, $180 was a cash withdrawal, so to avoid double counting (because cash expenses are mentioned below, you should consider that S&S bill to be $528) - Hotel (1 night): $180 - Cabs/busses/shuttles in transit (excludes in port): $194, of which $187 was in Miami and a $7 bus at home. - Incidental food/meals/drinks - includes transit, purchased to bring on board, and in port: $388 - Souvenirs/goods: $161 - Other: map, coin laundry, additional on-board cash tips, post-trip photo developing, foreign transaction bank charges, cell phone roaming and foreign data plan charges: $425 This doesn't include $1,250 in excursions, because you said you have already prepaid your excursions. We generally don't buy ship's excursions. Our port excursion/activity costs were: - Ship excursion: prepaid $360 - Do-it-yourself activities, car rentals, gas, etc.: $890 And just to make the picture complete, cabin fare was $8,699 (3 balcony cabins). We have a few drinks, photos, casino, and the kids get an allotment of $30 each (arcade, shops, sodas, etc). And most of the time, we have enough OBC to cover gratuities and some onboard charges. We do not got to Carnival's specialty dining venues, the spa, nor do we play Bingo. We do spend a significant amount of money in port and book most of our excursions outside of the cruiseline. momof3cruisers Posted October 19, 2014 #33 Share Posted October 19, 2014 drinks is the main hit - about £15 per person per day so almost £300 for drinks for 2 people over 10 days - tips are £4 per day per head so £80 in £10 days - we had a couple of spa treatments but tips and drinks formed the bulk of the bill How can your tips only be £4? Is that equal to $12? Sheesh...the exchange rate is worse than I thought. As for my bills, traveling with sisters, about $130 on a three day. That included tips. With our family of 5 it was around $700 including tips, Bottomless Bubbles for the three kids and a few drinks each day for husband and I. I think we also played Bingo once. Sent from my LG-D850 using Forums mobile app $300 to board more than one dog isn't too bad, but it just cracks me up how much we have spent on boarding our dog and I ALWAYS forget to calculate that cost into trip expenses. Our dog is a bit nervous and doesn't exactly love other dogs so the place we take her is pretty pricey, but worth every penny. Good luck on quitting smoking. Hi CruizinMama :) When it comes to totals, its so very individual. My wife & I tend to spend quite a bit when sailing, and we factor that in during our saving process. Our last voyage with Carnival was a 16-day B2B aboard the Splendor. Both folio bill totals were high, but expected. We typically sail 14 days or longer. What we spent $$ on: Ship gratuities & extra tips for: (steward & assistant, server & two assistants, favorite bartender, room service tips) Soda card (both voyages) Drinks Five steakhouse meals One Chef Table meal Photo's Bingo Gift shop / fun shops Specialty coffee's, cakes & milkshakes One day spa pass One casino evening Plus the ports: Last voyage had six ports & one turnaround day - $150 or so per port Beaches, taxi's, excursions, souvenirs, food, drinks, tips, & so on. Turnaround day - ( 7th port ) We never stay on-board the ship to enjoy the 60 minutes of having hardly any passengers aboard. During our B2B voyages we like to make turnaround day, a port day. That is another one of the costs of vacations that never seems to make it into any of those "comparison" advertisements. I'm fortunate that the health insurance through my work contains foreign medical coverage on par with what you'd get buying travel insurance separately. We spent $20 in casino, $20 souvenir shops, $50 take home liquor bottles, $60 alcoholic drinks. We didnt do bingo, spa, steakhouse or buy pictures (brought my dslr). We also brought on our own soda and a wine bottle. We like to do alot of the free stuff onboard ie trivia, bean bag toss, mini golf, people watch, tea time etc. Hope that helps a little. All of our excursions and gratuities are paid for already. We are not planning on purchasing any art. We do drink but we don't gamble. We've considered the CHEERS program but I don't anticipate us drinking $400 worth of booze. Plus we are bringin 2 bottles of wine... That is mainly for the specialty restaurants, wine, the spa and a few gifts bought in the shops onboard. If there is a Cherry on Top we end up with a hefty candy bill.
