gnocchi_mommy Posted October 21, 2014 #1 Share Posted October 21, 2014 Reviews are very... bleak. Any recent cruisers have input? Should I assume that people are simply more apt to take the time to post a negative review than a positive? I know this is an older, smaller ship- I'm okay with that, but I still want decent food, fun entertainment, and a casino big enough to spend some time in. Will we be disappointed? jazm2011 Posted October 21, 2014 #2 Share Posted October 21, 2014 You will not be disappointed. Paradise is one of my favorite ships. :) Most of the shorter sailings don't get as many folks reviewing them, so that's probably why you aren't seeing much on Paradise. SMSACE6 Posted October 21, 2014 #3 Share Posted October 21, 2014 (edited) I have seen some very good reviews of the Paradise, as recently as within the last year or so, but there just are not many reviews here on the boards, especially those wonderful reviews that people do with photos, but there are some if you do a search. The Paradise does have the evening shows with singers and dancers with a real orchestra, not the playlist stuff that I hear much grumbling about. I have wanted to cruise on the Paradise for some time now, but other plans just keep interfering with that. there is actually a nice review with photos from Janiceb just a few threads down, it from April, but lots of info and great photos. SkyMaster Posted October 21, 2014 #8 Share Posted October 21, 2014 As noted above, "Paradise" is an outstanding cruise, with fantastic shows, and entertainment. Still offers REAL shows, instead of the "wannabe" Playlist Production shows. Cruise director Steve Cassel will play the violin, and fiddle for you during a couple of those shows, and that in itself is enough reason to sail "Paradise", but along with the great food, and service, and FUN FUN FUN, you won't go wrong with your "Paradise" cruise. (Just don't tell anyone else, or else it'll be sold out all the time, and we'll NEVER be able to enjoy her again!) "SKY"
nickiford Posted October 21, 2014 #9 Share Posted October 21, 2014 We went on the Paradise last year, had a great time. I have a review in my signature. The CD Steve in my opinion, was probably my least favourite, but it didn't really affect my good time.
fbe2228 Posted October 21, 2014 #10 Share Posted October 21, 2014 A brief answer: We sailed on Paradise in February of 2013 and got a really good deal on it. We went into it with not terribly high expectations since it didn't cost us much. We figured for the price, it would have to be pretty bad for us not to enjoy it. It was probably one of our better cruises. The food, the service, and the entertainment were all great. Unless things have changed drastically since then, we wouldn't hesitate to sail on Paradise again. Paul
BBBonBon62 Posted October 22, 2014 #11 Share Posted October 22, 2014 Sailed the Paradise last February and had a grand time. We were a small group of 11, ages 16 to 78. Everyone enjoyed the cruise. Entertainment, food, and service were very good. Rooms a bit dated but clean and comfortable. Ports included Grand Cayman and Cozumel. Some of us ventured off to our excursions while others stayed on board and found plenty to do. I really don't think you will be disappointed. Mutumbojimbo Posted October 22, 2014 #12 Share Posted October 22, 2014 We've sailed 2x on the Paradise. I enjoyed the shows, Steve the usual CD is very entertaining and adds a nice element to the productions. I can't judge the casino. We've had excellent service in the MDR both cruises. I'd cruise again but we're trying to see some different ports. Enjoy your cruise!
tandemcruzr Posted October 22, 2014 #13 Share Posted October 22, 2014 Most recently, sailed the Paradise this past April with our DD, SIL and 7 year old Grandson ... their first cruise. We had a ball. GS loved Camp Carnival. Food and service were good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Enjoy your cruise on the Paradise.
Captain Carnival Posted October 22, 2014 #14 Share Posted October 22, 2014 Paradise is indeed a Funship - have a great time!
kwazi07 Posted October 22, 2014 #15 Share Posted October 22, 2014 I was on Paradise in 2012. Great food and entertainment. Rooms are smaller than most Carnival rooms and a little dated. The ship is very pretty compared to most of Carnival's. There are some signs of wear, but she is due for a renovation (Funship 2.0) next year. There is no waterworks! That is a good thing, as there are the two original pools versus the main pool and Waterworks. The pools were crowded as they were, I can't imagine having only one.
