Best time to arrive at Anytime Dining on Grand Princess

Hi there!

Leaving this Thursday on the 10-day Mexican Riviera cruise aboard the Grand Princess.

Normally we prefer 2nd seating traditional dining, but thought we'd try Anytime, this time. What is the best time to arrive for seating, shared and two-top?

What time would be best on formal nights?

Thank you for your help.

All anybody can offer is generalities as each voyage's passengers are different and it is hard to predict in advance when over a thousand of your new friends will want their "anytime" to be.

In general, there is less of a wait after 8 PM. Also, if you go when the dining room first opens, you are likely to be seated immediately.

As to availability of a table for two when you get there, that also depends on the preferences of the over a thousand of your new friends.

On formal evenings there may be less of a wait if you go before the Captain's welcome party in the atrium (1st formal night) is over or before the repeat passenger party in the Vista Lounge is over (2nd formal night).

Hi LAC2,

We are on this cruise too. Our experience for Anytime Dining is that it is best to arrive a little bit before 7:30. We as a rule have not had a seating problem. Going earlier you wait around with a pager if first seating has not finished so we just go down after 7:15-7:30. I many times make reservations with the Dine Line for 3 nights(or the max they allow you for one call) and have not had any problems doing that. We like Anytime Dining because there are some evenings we are not hungry for a big meal and just get something to eat at the International Cafe or Alfredo's. We then go to the late show and there are usually many seats which are available when for the first show there are none, and since we are on vacation we can stay up late!! No cooking, cleaning, appointments..just enjoying a cruise!!

Looking forward to meeting you as I see you are on the roll call...

Regards,

Anita

I agree . We always try go to dinner when the dinning room first opens.

If there is a line at the entrance at one of the dinning rooms , we go the

other anytime dinning room.

Another hint, if you are in a hurry ,do not be seated at an empty table for ten.

Sometimes the wait staff will wait until the table is mostly full, then ask for everyone's order.

Enjoy,

Thank you all for your input and advice. I think we will try for the later time 7:30 - 8:00pm or so.

Anita, aka GrandmaA, we look forward to meeting you in person at the M&G too. It looks like we are going to have some nice weather for our 10-day. Woohoo!

See you soon! :D
