Gift for Other Passengers

I was hoping to get some information on sending a gift to other passengers while we are on the cruise. Is it possible to send a gift while we are on the ship, or does it have to be arranged beforehand? If anyone can help me with this, I'd really appreciate it - I can't decide on what to send. I thought maybe it would hit me while on board.

Also, any suggestions as to what is best to send? Do they have a general gift certificate for use while on the ship? Or, should I just stick with the old standby, Champagne????? Thanks for your help!

It is possible to send gifts to other passengers on the same cruise. The gift must be something that is already on the ship. There are some things which you can order ahead of time that are delivered to the ship at the embarkation port and so are only available through that mechanism.

You can give someone shipboard credit, or casino credit, or photo credit. We have received a tin of cookies, chocolate covered strawberries, and wine from other passengers on the same ship and the items weren't purchased by those passengers until after cruise had begun.

From your question, it sounds like you know the people you are traveling with. If so, then it is best to try to find out the things they like or restrictions they have, and choose a gift accordingly. For example, if they don't drink alcoholic beverages, champagne won't be a good choice. Although Princess has a non-alcoholic wine, they don't have a non-alcoholic champange. The non-alcoholic wine is much cheaper than the champagne, but when we have tried to exchange, Princess only will make an even exchange, even though they admit the cost of the alcoholic beverage we are trading is more. So you could end up spending money and your friends only get a portion of that value, with the rest essentially going to Princess.

On some ships, you can order flowers on the ship, as well as all the stuff mentioned above. Wine............strawberries............special balcony breakfast or dinner.........

When we were traveling with friends, and were so glad they joined us, we ordered flowers ahead of time, and had them waiting in their cabin to welcome them aboard. We have also received flowers onboard, for our anniversary, from fellow ship mates, who ordered them aboard the Star.

During the week of July 24, DH and I had friends on two cruises: One was a Baltic cruise on Star Princess, the other was New England/Canada on RCI. In both cases, a phone call to the respective cruiseline was the easiest way to send our friends champagne/wine to be delivered at the time of embarkation. We learned upon their return that our request was honored in both cases, and both couples were duly impressed and pleased with the sailaway gifts.

If you have the booking number of your friends, you can probably do this on-line prior to the cruise. With only the ship name and date of sailing, we were not able to complete the gift form on either website. I think your friends will appreciate your thoughtfulness, and it would probably be nice to have something presented to them upon embarkation.

Bon Voyage!

Chris

The flowers on the ship are very beautiful and exotic looking (and quite reasonable compared to land prices). They often have a table in the atrium the first or second day.

I have always enjoyed these in the cabin.
