Insane Prices

I'm booked on Rhapsody for Sept. 25th 8 night cruise in a JS aft corner for $3700 for both my husband and me. I booked this on July on the BOGOHO. I think this is a great price. It seems like the prices are all over the place. But $5900 to $12,000, that's insane.

A few years ago they couldn't give away Med cruises. We paid $999pp for a JS 10 night. Thought that was pretty good.

Next year over Thanksgiving we are paying $1600 total on the Jewel out of San Juan, aft D1. Now the price is $3000, with 1K OBC. I wouldn't even know what to do with all that OBC.

OMG, I honestly think that someone doing their pricing right now is smoking something and they are seeing unicorns and rainbows. I know a lot of cruisers locally and no one is booking anything at Royal right now. I think they shooting themselves in the foot.

US 5900 for a 12 day cruise in balcony cabin it is high. It comes to US 500 per night. Those are prices for premium cruises. Supply and Demand? Check other suppliers...

Been to the Med several times. If you pay more than half of that on RCCL, you are crazy. Check around or go with a premium line.

Vision D cabins sell out quickly, and that may be why the price is so high: maybe it's the last cabin or 2 left.

We were on one cruise when bookings opened and when I asked about a Vision Med cruise there was virtually nothing left if you wanted a balcony. They just sell out fast.

Any not used can be drawn out as a casino cash advance, there's a 5% fee but 95% is better than losing it all.;)

Not sure, but the terms and conditions made it sound like they were not going to allow that with this promo. Could be I'm reading too much into it.

We are on the 10 night prior to you, and could even be in the same corner aft JS, with the BOGOHO sale on May 1, we have the cabin for $4400- pretty close to the same nightly cost as you.

Checking the prices as the sale went on- the cabins sold out, which is totally why the prices went up.

Once big TA's release the cabins, the prices will drop, again.

edit- prices are double that right now- oh, well. We got a good deal, and I expect prices to go down as people don't fill the cabins. The hard part about these particular cruises is that it pays off to book flights early, too. Well, especially if you use miles to get free tickets.

That's the way it is. Use it or lose it.

Bob, I believe that " no cash value" has always been in the T&C for OBC offers and the way around it has been using it, so to speak, in the casino. I'll F/U when on Serenade later this week as per the following.

I think you are right, but it would be nice to get confirmation. Thanks!

Back in early May, I booked my sister and BIL on Vision 7/3/15 12 night in a Cat G OV for $1589/pp before taxes. This was in the early days of the BOGOHO sale.

Looking at what these cruises are going for now, she's got a great fare. She was thinking of not booking at the time, but we all convinced her that you only live once, you never know what will happen when retirement comes (in about 6 years for her) so you should go when you can.

I'll have to update her on these prices.

On the Oasis TA, when we had TV, I saw a thing on the stock market where the Travel industry is one of the leading industries.

I guess RC believes that. At $500 a day, if for even one person, you can do a lot of travel in other methods for that.

It is insane I don't know what they are trying to pull with their 1000.00 OBC. So because of the OBC they are more than doubling the price. Last year we went on a Baltic for 12 nights and paid 1800.00 for a balcony and then were upgrade to a JS when we got to the port. They are getting so ridiculous taking away and charging more, I think its time to look into another line even though we are D+.

I totally agree. RCI doubled the first person fare during the BOGHO promo. Since that one it's over, they are now offering a $1,000 OBC, but they have increased the fares $500 p/p (@ double occupancy they get back their $1K)! I think that's a very bad move, because you can book a 12 night greek islands cruise on their cousin Celebrity, have a better service and enjoy almost double the nights for the same price or less!

They are not giving away anything. They ones giving away their money are the ones that have fallen in this scam.
