Best Spot to be during Sail Away

I remember on one of my cruises there was like a hidden area that was the best place to be when we were sailing away from the embarkation port. Is there a specific spot like that on the Victory??

You are probably talking about the 'secret door' / 'secret decks' forward, yes victory has these areas on decks 6, 7, 9 & 10

Great spot two decks above and below the bridge. This is the area in front of the 4J cabins. There's usually 2 wooden benches that you can chill on with a beverage of your choice.

All of the Conquest type ships have it. The Conquest, Freedom, Glory, Liberty, Splendor, Triumph, Valor and Victory. The Breeze, Magic and Dream have it as well on those four decks. All of the Spirit and Fantasy Class ships do NOT have it.

 

That leaves the Sunshine, which is unique because it was the first 100,000 ton ship in the fleet when it debuted as the Destiny. It only has it on decks 6 and 7.

I think you are talking about the "secret decks". I know there is one on deck 6.

We will be watching sail away from our cabin-a grand scenic ocean view, with a glass of wine in hand...looking forward to it :D

As you know, "sail away" is not a fast process...you'll have time to enjoy several different areas!!!

this is pretty much the view from the 'secret decks':

 

 

this was actually taken on sunshine while it was still destiny, from the bridge (note the windshield wipers!)...

 

the handrails & decks you see below are the 'secret decks' below the bridge.

destiny used to have them on 9, but during drydock they converted that area to the grand oceanview / scenic grand oceanview type cabins, as they have on other triumph and conquest class ships. and triumph and victory included the addition of the extra passenger deck, which yielded the deck 10 secret deck. it's interesting to watch how it's all evolved - with destiny serving as the blueprint for so many ships to come after her. :)

We were on the Magic last month and used the secret deck for our sail away, but I still think your balcony with an umbrella drink is still the best.

I can tell you that the Fascination has this as well, but unfortunately on the Fascination, they are not "secret." While most ship plans don't mention this area, I know that it was listed on the little pocket ship plan for the Fascination that they hand out, listed as "forward observation deck." Since it was on the ship plan, it was wider knowledge of it's existence, thus more people.

It depends if you like it quieter or if you want to be in the "party zone". For quieter sailaways, yes, the unsecret "secret" deck up front, or on your own balcony if you have a balcony cabin (our favorite spot).....or up top on the Lido where the big sailaway party is taking place.....lots of action, music and easy access to DOD up there (this can be a fun exciting place to hang out) etc.

Same here. I don't like being up with the crowds, I definitely prefer my own balcony with a cocktail in hand :)
