Rare Copper10-8 Posted August 22, 2005 #8 Share Posted August 22, 2005 Thanks a lot for the welcomes everyone! Hi Doug, good to see you back home too! How was your day in Copenhagen? Suffering from jet lag? Take care and be safe!
dougnewmanatsea Posted August 22, 2005 #9 Share Posted August 22, 2005 Hi John, Copenhagen (two days) was great, as were most of the ports on this itinerary. No jet lag, but exhausted from fun at JFK (that place is obviously run by people with brains the size of poppyseeds). 7000 miles of airline flights and two weeks travelling through Europe, and the most tiring journey was the 500 yards through the airport terminal at home. Amazing. More later.
the2ofus Posted August 22, 2005 #10 Share Posted August 22, 2005 Welcome Home! Have enjoyed your reviews so far and am looking forward to reading your final comments on the last ports of call. Reading such comprehensive and colorful reports is the next best thing to being there! Thank you so much for taking the time, spending the internet $$ and making the effort to share your impressions with your CC buddies.
Rare Copper10-8 Posted August 22, 2005 #11 Share Posted August 22, 2005 No jet lag, but exhausted from fun at JFK (that place is obviously run by people with brains the size of poppyseeds). 7000 miles of airline flights and two weeks travelling through Europe, and the most tiring journey was the 500 yards through the airport terminal at home. Amazing. More later. Funny you mention that! I made a similar remark to Maria at EWR. Looked to us like things in Copenhagen and Amsterdsam-Schiphol were much better organized and consequently ran much smoother!
Ine Posted August 23, 2005 #12 Share Posted August 23, 2005 Welcome home to Doug and Copper (and their family of course). I loved to read your reports and will miss that. So please make another cruise very soon.(!!) Yesterday Sail Amsterdam was finished, it was great again with rather good weather. It takes another 5 years for the next one. Last night we had a very nice dinner in Amsterdam with Jim and Donna, plus the other 3 couples who are starting their Prinsendamcruise today. We hope they will also have a great time. Rare Copper10-8 Posted August 23, 2005 #13 Share Posted August 23, 2005 Hi Ine, en goedemorgen voor jou! Nice to hear you had dinner with Jim and friends (read about it from him earlier today) We had a most excellent cruise and enjoyed all our ports. Being "home" again was really nice and it was great being able to speak my mother's language again! Rotterdam, Kinderdijk, Maastricht and Delft were all very nice experiences and we enjoyed sitting on the open air terraces at the Vrijthof in Masstricht and at het Stadhuisplein in Delft!!! When we returned to Amsterdam on Friday, we contemplated going out to the harbor to watch Sail but then my sisters called and we wound up going to Callantsoog (our summer vacation location during our youth) instead. We met the family who used to "host" us and all their additions. At around 1-2 PM it started raining so visiting the Sail ships would have been a wet affair. In either way, we had a great time in Holland, thanks to you and your tips! You take care and please let me know once you have finalized your plans and dates for your visit down here!! De Groetjes!
