mamaofami Posted November 9, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 9, 2014 First time sailing on Princess. I am looking at mini suites and wondering what the different colors mean when looking for a particular cabin? Are all mini suites the same size? Are they all the same price, or does price change depending on location and is that what the different colors mean? Thank you.
Princess Patches Posted November 9, 2014 #2 Share Posted November 9, 2014 (edited) Mini suites are the same size. The color refers to the category and the category is based on location. The higher the category the more expensive the mini suite. Midship cabins cost more than forward or aft cabins (for instance, MA costs more than an ME). Rare JimmyVWine Posted November 9, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 9, 2014 We always try for what we call a "border crossing" Mini Suite--that is, the first Mini-Suite in a lower category that is immediately adjacent to a higher category. For example, an MD that touches an MB or an MB that touches an MA. Since the cabins are all identical, we get one that is literally inches away from one that Princess considers to be "superior", but at a lower price. And if we get upgraded, we move just a short distance into the "better" category without worrying about getting an upgrade that one might consider to be a downgrade. So use the color-coded deck plan to your advantage.
Princess Patches Posted November 9, 2014 #4 Share Posted November 9, 2014 (edited) Note that Dolphin deck minis all have uncovered balconies and Emerald deck minis all have covered balconies on the Grand Class ships (Crown, Ruby, Emerald, Sapphire, Diamond, Grand, Star, Golden, and Caribbean). Book according to your preference. Edited November 9, 2014 by Princess Patches
waltd Posted November 9, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 9, 2014 Some ships have mini suites that have no balconies. Usually all the way forward. So more interior space.

hospvol Posted November 9, 2014 #7 Share Posted November 9, 2014 Those mini suites without balconies are called window suites. We had one going from LA to Hawaii. It was great.
mamaofami Posted November 9, 2014 Author #8 Share Posted November 9, 2014 Do the mini suites on Dolphin deck on the Island have obstructed views because of the life boats one deck down?
LoriPhil Posted November 9, 2014 #9 Share Posted November 9, 2014 (edited) No- as I recall, except for the newest ships (Royal, Regal) the life boats are tucked under, so you can look directly down to the water from the dolphin deck mini's. IECalCruiser Posted November 9, 2014 #10 Share Posted November 9, 2014 Some ships have mini suites that have no balconies. Usually all the way forward. So more interior space. Those mini suites without balconies are called window suites. We had one going from LA to Hawaii. It was great. The mini suites waltd is referring to are only on the Coral and Island. There are two on either side all the way forward on Baja and Caribe decks. The mini suites with no balcony have the same limited mini suite perks which are basically a glass of champagne at embarkation, better towels, a bathtub and a sitting area with a sofa. Window Suite are a full suite category with all of the suite benefits. There are seven of them on Fiesta deck on the Caribbean, Grand and Golden.
