Taxi Cost to West End Beach

Out to sea!

Does anyone know what the cost of a taxi ride for 2 to the west End Beach from the port in town (not Mahogany Bay but the port in the center of town that NCL uses)?

Also, the cost of a couple of chairs at the beach? Trying to decide if it's cheaper to take a taxi than the $25 Victor Bodden tour to get to the beach (have done VB before, it's very good but just mainly interested in a few hours at the beach).

We paid $25. pp round trip last March. Four people in the cab. The driver stayed at West Bay Beach to bring us back when we were ready. We negotiated the price at the Mahogany Bay taxi stand.

Decent beach chairs (some shade, some sun) were $10. pp. in front of a small eatery that had good cold drinks!

Great day, great snorkeling. What a beautiful place!

My understanding is taxi rates are only regulated from the Airport.. it is and has been for many years $25 (per car) to get from the Airport Parking lot to West Bay Beach.

Pretty much any taxi outside of the airport parking lot can do as they please. If one is not in a hurry and has the ability to haggle I have heard rates as low as $15 per person from Coxen Hole...this is for a taxi all day.

Now then of one wants to walk out to the main road and flag a taxi the rate could be a little as $2 per person for a collectivo, this means the driver can stop and pick up or drop off as he chooses.

The worry on cruise days is prices are fluid and finding one to get back to the ship may be a challenge, especially from West bay Beach, both price and availability wise.

From Mahogany Bay prices are higher to West Bay, often times one is better off paying one better off pre arranging a driver.

If one is up for a real adventure from Coxen Hole the mini bus 30lemp to West End then the water taxi (50lemp) to west bay is an option. Time may be a worry, while there is a schudule-ish, the bus drops off and picks up on the route wherever it is flagged.
