bsblindab Posted November 25, 2014 #1 Share Posted November 25, 2014 We hope to spend a few days prior to our cruise looking around Hawaii. Doesn't have to be anything extravagant as all we plan on doing is mostly retiring for the night..Needs to be decent/clean. Any suggestions? Freckles_51 Posted November 25, 2014 #3 Share Posted November 25, 2014 Ilikai Hotel & Suites booked through Aqua Hotels (not the private condos) - would stay there again in a heartbeat :)
Bomax2 Posted November 25, 2014 #4 Share Posted November 25, 2014 We stayed at the Holiday Inn Beachcomber in Waikiki in April of this year. Nice hotel. It was clean and quiet and staff was very friendly. Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville in lobby and Cheesecake Factory across the street. Lots of shopping in the area, as well. linwood77 Posted November 25, 2014 #5 Share Posted November 25, 2014 We stayed at the Waikiki Beach Marriott. NCL has a service center located in the main lobby. We checked in, had our photos taken and booked shore excursions the day before going to the pier. Here is a link to the information. http://www.ncl.com/freestyle-cruise/marriott-service-center. Post cruise we stayed a week at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. This was in April 2007, but since the link still exists, I believe the office is still there. dalgirl Posted November 25, 2014 #6 Share Posted November 25, 2014 We stayed at Outrigger on the Beach - got a discount at the website so the price was really good. It was a wonderful hotel close to everything and on the beach. http://www.outriggerwaikikihotel.com/
Budget Queen Posted November 25, 2014 #7 Share Posted November 25, 2014 My preference for my Hawaii trips is to be elsewhere than Oahu. :) So I have stayed at the various Seaside hotels, that are in Kona, Hilo and Maui. Very reasonable in cost, basic and clean. Reason I mention this is it's simple to consider a mulicity booking and enjoy some Hawaii that may be of more interest to you. Interisland flights are cheap and frequent. I usually fly into Honolulu day of cruise. Especially if you are a snorkeler, or want some great whale watching, maybe Maui or Kona is a better area to spend your time.

beachnut41955 Posted November 26, 2014 #10 Share Posted November 26, 2014 We spent 4 days prior to our Hawaiian cruise at the Hyatt Waikiki. It was a wonderful location and we loved the hotel. That was in 2009.
kart97 Posted November 26, 2014 #11 Share Posted November 26, 2014 We flew in a few days early and stayed at Disney's Aulani Resort... It's a bit pricey and off the beaten path... But we avoided the Honolulu traffic too.
Rare EllieinNJ Posted November 26, 2014 #12 Share Posted November 26, 2014 Second Nod for the Waikiki Resort Hotel. Just one block off beach, across from the Pacific Hotel. No pool but nice rooms with balconies. They have special web pricing and we got one for $129/night which included a great buffet breakfast. greatlakesgirl Posted November 26, 2014 #14 Share Posted November 26, 2014 (edited) Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel! Loved the location, closer to Diamond Head, thus less crowded. Edited November 26, 2014 by greatlakesgirl
Barb Nahoumi Posted November 26, 2014 #15 Share Posted November 26, 2014 We booked through NCL for a pre and Post stay at the Hawaiian Village in Oahu. It was near Waikiki Beach, and NCL had an office there as well. We were picked up at the airport, transferred to the hotel. The next day, a transport bus took us to the ship. Post cruise, we were transferred back to the hotel. We spent much of the post cruise day sight seeing and at Waikiki Beach. Flying home the next day, after a night's rest at the hotel, was more relaxing than rushing to the airport after disembarking. If we do Hawaii again, I would like to cruise from California to the islands.

justcruisin87 Posted November 27, 2014 #18 Share Posted November 27, 2014 Queen Kapiolani Hotel at Waikiki. GREAT location by the zoo and beach with views of Diamond Head and the zoo instead of other hotels. Also, it was a quick 2 minute walk to the beach. Great price too--- highly recommend! :)

Notion_of_the_Ocean Posted November 30, 2014 #20 Share Posted November 30, 2014 We are visiting Hawaii for the first time next summer. We are booked at the Moana Surfrider. I obviously cannot comment from experience but it looks gorgeous and it is neat that it's the first hotel built in Waikiki. :D
