I am keeping out of all the voting & politics.... But forgot to inform Linda that Marmite was available on the NCL Star last September :) (they even had Vegemite, whatever that is).

How about a Marmite or Sprouts poll..... Though on second thoughts, maybe not.

Marmite also available on P&O at breakfast, in those little tub thingies. I find it useful to liberate a handful or so for those savoury midnight drinks. :D

Hi Flopsy. We went on the IE for the 3rd time in September. Myself my husband, daughter & granddaughter shared a cabin. We had to upgrade to the premium drinks package as my daughter drinks cider & that wasn't included. The only downside to this was, as we were all sharing a cabin all 4 of us had to upgrade. You couldn't just upgrade my daughter (so 1child 3 adults) I suppose it's so that people don't misuse the cards. I like the odd Baileys which wasn't included in the AI and my husband does like a change from lager to cider as well. Plus all the special coffees are free too. I think it cost around £200 for all of us for the week as was much cheaper than a bill at the end as individual premium drinks are quite expensive xx

Hi Hazel

Thanks for all that information -much appreciated.

As I can't get hubby into the formal dining room on Thomson ships I feel that perhaps we are paying for that facility but have no intention of making use of it.

At first I couldn't get hubby to even consider a cruise because he didn't fancy 'getting dressed up for captains night', or having to wear a collar and tie, jacket, etc, on other nights- although I accept that for many cruisers 'getting dressed up' is regarded as an enjoyable part of their cruising experience.

The fact that hubby can avoid such formality means that he can relax and enjoy the buffet restaurants (the food is not that different from the MDR).

I just wish the Island Escape would do the Adriatic as a change from the Med!

Sorry to but in Flopsy, but we enjoyed our drinks on Island Escape without paying any supplements. We started asking for my Vodka and Pineapple and Ray's Whisky and Ginger 50/50, and they were coming in half pint glasses. I believe they do a premium supplement that can be paid when you go on board, but we didn't have that. Someone who is a regular can probably answer that one. We loved IE when we went October 13.

Thanks for the info Gill. 50:50 drinks- wow!

I wish I hadn't Dave :D:D:D

Linda don't worry it's only a bit of fun!

But it's livened things up on here and I've learned that there are some really nice people sailing on the Island Escape- I am reconsidering my reluctance to go on it, so I am glad you started this off lol.

I do like a bit of controversy Sally (I typed Salty and had to alter it -on the other hand, Salty might be appropriate for us lot )

It might be a bit of fun to us, but it seems IE people are taking it very seriously and being quite nasty about me - ooh I'm scared

If you do go on IE we shall all be interested to see what you think of it :)

Celebration was our first, still love this boat, Dream also good, Spirit is very similar to Celebration went on this year first time, enjoyed it, we do not like the Majesty which is very cramped and badly laid out but if we got a really cheap deal would consider it again! ;)

Lets face it most of us would consider any of the ships if we got a cheap deal. Although in my case if it was Majesty I would be going on my own as hubby says hes never going on it again. Doesnt like it and knowing how stubborn he is I could be going with someone else

True. The Dream is my least favourite by distance but I'd still go on her if the price was right.

Hi everyone, there are nice people everywhere, perhaps because the Island Escape is only little, then the staff & people who sail on her get to know one another easily. Maybe because she's an 'old lady' lots of people are put off saying she's tatty, past her best, & had it. The fact that there are so many people who go back year after year surely must mean there is something about her that many love. She is full of character, friendly staff, & brilliant entertainment. It really s a ship that you get on to relax & have fun. No stuffy formal nights, (so room in your suitcase for more sensible clothes appropriate for a holiday) but many people still dress up for the evening - me included. The cabins are small. Think of a caravan bedroom & that's about right for a single. Before you dismiss her outright remember this is cruising on a budget. You still get to see the same places as the Dream, only its cheaper. The food is plenty & good. The drinks, well, if you ask for a strong one, that's what you get! I found no need to upgrade because when I wanted a Baileys it was only a couple of quid anyway.

If you are worried about anything, just ask. There is always someone who will answer your questions.

So please everyone, don't knock it 'til you've tried it.:)

but arn't those single cabins noisy and prone to vibration? I now prefer a good nights sleep.

I had cabin number 4072 which is near the back of the ship, I can honestly say the only noise I heard was the gentle hum of the engines - & that was a very low hum. :)
