How often does NCL have better than avg OBC specials?

by avg, I mean $25 OBC for an Inside cabin.

 

I have a 'free' CAS cruise that I need to book by Jan 30,2015.

 

ncl's current obc is the standard $25 for Inside cabin on the Breakaway to the Bahamas.

 

2wks ago, it was $100 obc for ANY cabin.

unfortunately, I couldn't book that because my land casino would not give out the certificates till the end of Nov.

and CAS would not allow me to book w/o the certificate #. :(

 

So how often is it greater than $25 OBC for an inside?

I grabbed an incredible deal on a 12 day on the BA for 3. $2150 Inside cabin. That includes tax and port but not gratuities.

 

I believe they offer ksf 2 x a year

 

This is the first time we have taken advantage of it.

 

 

Get on Ncl email list and just keep checking the website on a very regular basis so you know when it comes up again.

It becomes a full time job getting deals!!! Lol

I think it was March and they had 'kids sail free' plus $200 obc for balcony room.

We got a great deal for our upcoming cruise NCL Getaway Jan 3rd, 2015 :D

 

Then on Jul 3, I booked an 11 day med with the 'kids sail free' for Mar 2015

$3435.00 with a $50.00 obc. Its over 2k more right now as I type :eek::eek:

Something to keep in mind, though. When doing a booking (or mock booking) during KSF, NCL will show you an average cost per cruiser. It will make it look as if a $4,000 cruise for four people is showing as $1,000 per person. In reality, it is $2,000 for two people (person 1 and 2 on the booking) and free for the last two (again, minus the taxes and fees).

 

So, if a group of people decide to go in together on a cabin and split the cost, NCL only considers the first two people on the reservation as paying in full. Hence, if any travelers three or above on the reservation cancel, the only refund that is going to be awarded is the taxes and fees. There is another thread floating around right now where a family group had booked during KSF, split the cost amongst themselves, and someone had to cancel. The insurance is only refunding the taxes and fees, since technically that is all NCL considered them paying. The other members of the group are going to have to come up with the part of the cost of the person that canceled.

 

We booked during KSF and invited a friend to travel with us. Minus her port fees, DSC and taxes, she is sailing for free -- we are not asking her to cover any of the actual cruise costs beyond that. Of course, there are a myriad of charges involved that she is paying (flight, excursions etc.), but for her, the "sailing" part is free.

I guess I shouldn't do math this early in the morning. Say the total for a cruise is $4,000. It will be $2,000 each for person 1 and 2, with the third through eighth just paying taxes and fees. The cruise total will be $4,000.

 

However, when you do the mock booking, it will show an average cost of $1,000 per person.

 

We booked on the phone, but when we did a mock booking online for the three of us, it was showing $1,859/person. However, when we actually did the booking, Passengers 1 and 2 pay $2,789 each and our third person pays nothing in guest fare. Everyone pays the same amount in taxes and fees. Insurance is also less for the third person.

 

The price per person that is shown on the site during booking can be a bit misleading. Just be aware that the cost is not going to be split equally between everyone in the cabin.

 

By the way, check to see how many future cruise credits you can use for each cruise. I've never used them, but I think I remember reading that there is a limit on how many you can use per cabin per cruise.

It is $2,014 per person, plus taxes and fees, for all 4 people. The Kids Sail Free promotion is not currently being offered. Assuming the price stays the same, when the KSF promo comes around again, you can book this suite for $4,028 cruise fare ($2,014 each for the first two passengers) + $549 taxes (for all 4 passengers). Once you select a cabin, and see the total price on the right side of the page...click the "details" section below that. That will show the price breakdown per person.

 

When the kids sail free promotion is running you'll see $0 for guest 3 and 4, and only see the taxes there for them.

 

Generally the first 2 guests are full fare, and all others in the cabin are discounted no matter the ages.....when the ksf promo is running the 3rd -8th guest just pay taxes....so the first 2 fares would stay the same.

 

Hopefully that makes sense....It's past 5'oclock here...:D

I booked KSF also. We are on the Gem Dec 13th and we are booked in a two bedroom, not Haven. Our two kids were about $130-$150 a piece. Plus we have OBC for $450! And, yes it applies to adults too. They just need to be in the same room with you and be #'s 3-8. I got an email from NCL when this promo was released.

 

I will be keeping an eye out for the next one....:D

One thing I haven't seen mentioned here is that CAS often does not combine offers with comped cruises (as the OP stated he'd be using). With the CAS discount (not comp), many promotions are combinable. But with a comped cabin, very few promotions are combinable.. Sometimes some OBC is available (only for the cabin category you are comped, no matter how high you upgrade, you only get the OBC for the comped category), but not the bigger promos, hardly ever.. We have not been able to combine the KSF nor the 10% OBC nor any if the "freebies" (like UDP, UBP, Specialty Dinners/spa credit/etc) sales. YMMV.

Six total. Two in master bedroom on queen/King bed (it's somewhere in between to me). Three in small bedroom (two in lower full-size sofa bed and one in Pullman above). One on living room sofa (only a single, does not pull out). Three adults is pretty comfy. Two adults and two or three kids is comfy. Four adults is doable. Five or six adults is tight... Second bedroom is very small - on some ships if the lower bed is opened to a full bed, the bathroom door doesn't open all the way.

 

If you are hoping to upgrade your CAS comp, be sure to call CAS to check on pricing, it doesn't always correlate with online listed pricing. And as stated above, most big promotions are not combinable with a CAS comp.
