Boytjie Posted December 7, 2014 #128 Share Posted December 7, 2014 (edited) Don't know what made me check the web cam this late but sure enough, Oasis was still docked (or so I thought). So I checked the RC boards and there is a thread about Oasis heading back soon after leaving and transferred a passenger to a pilot boat before heading back out again. Only to turn around again and this time back to the pier. Nobody know for sure what the second return was for. Sad for those involved, for sure.

Boytjie Posted December 7, 2014 #133 Share Posted December 7, 2014 Is he stuck with the "out of control dog?" Roy John is on the Amsterdam. Did not even think about him and the dog being on the same ship. They were in Hawaii and returning to San Diego.

PathfinderEss Posted December 7, 2014 #135 Share Posted December 7, 2014 (edited) Passengers are reporting they came on board with a stretcher and 8 cops. Thinking is that a person has died, all this from the RC board Edited December 7, 2014 by PathfinderEss

PathfinderEss Posted December 7, 2014 #138 Share Posted December 7, 2014 Does the Captain toot the horn when leaving Seattle? You know I've only gone out of Seattle a couple of times and don't remember. Some Captains toot their horns and others not so much when ever we've gone out of Vancouver or San Diego. Boytjie Posted December 7, 2014 #140 Share Posted December 7, 2014 It was 7 years ago when we left San Diego on the Amsterdam (only our second cruise) and I can't recall tooting... then again, I wasn't quite as hooked yet. ;)

If she was that close why wouldn't she go in there instead of going back to PE? She was close to Miami.. On the RC board they asked the same thing and someone wondered if it was maybe too big. PathfinderEss Posted December 7, 2014 #145 Share Posted December 7, 2014 My DH mentioned they might not have any lines handlers still working or maybe no emergency equipment but that didn't make any sense to me. I guess they could be to big.

IndyDenise Posted December 7, 2014 #148 Share Posted December 7, 2014 Sorry IndyDenise, I just caught up with your question, Captain van Eerten is one of about 4 Captains the Westerdam has had that have made her the 'Queen of Horns'. He is the newest and in my mind the best. Hopefully he will be Captain of your cruise. Well Independence went out with some nice toots, so thats it for today. Thanks Chief, Lou and Dave for making our sailaways possible. Thanks Melodie! I hope I get a honking good Captain! :D

KerriL Posted December 7, 2014 #150 Share Posted December 7, 2014 Good afternoon Dam cruisers. For the folks who asked the best place to watch sail-away? Go to top floor of your hotel and see if there are any windows around elevators or emergency exits that face harbor. Have done this at Renaissance. Thanks. We took a walk to the drawbridge and had a great view from there.
