sail7seas Posted December 7, 2014 #26 Share Posted December 7, 2014 Have you checked cruises leaving from Miami or even Port Canaveral? And I would need transfers to the terminals, since we have no car and we are arriving from FLL. IT WOULD COST TOO MUCH Sent from my iPad using Forums RCI Allure (or Oasis) sails from FLL Sundays. Stefanosthecruiselover Posted December 7, 2014 Author #27 Share Posted December 7, 2014 RCI Allure (or Oasis) sails from FLL Sundays. It costs way too much. Even if it didn't. My return flight is on Saturday. So the cruise would have to leave on Sunday and come back Saturday. SPacificbound Posted December 7, 2014 #28 Share Posted December 7, 2014 Please please help me!! The final payment is done for 1 of the 2 rooms (we have two interior rooms). Are we able to still change. We were thinking about the 5 nights on Carnival Victory (we can fit 5 in an ocean view room for 800 dollars less than the Conquest) . We could get transport from FLL airport and stay in Miami for two nights before the cruise. Will there be a fee if I cancel. I just feel sick right now. Sent from my iPad using Forums These are decisions that the person(s) paying the bills need to make. Talk to your mom, she sounds pretty cool. :) At least if you talk it over with your mom it won't be on your head when your dad finds out it's a party cruise. Cruisin' Chick Posted December 7, 2014 #30 Share Posted December 7, 2014 If you weren't already to the final payment date (if that's what I'm getting from one of your posts), and you found a ship that was four or five days, why not consider switching if you could. Then get a hotel room for the reminder of the time (or for the pre-cruise, which hopefully you're not flying in on the day of your cruise), and sight see in the area. As for a large group being on your cruise, just about every cruise that isn't on a small ship will have groups of all sizes. The problem comes from the group gets to take over major venues (say a pool or a dining room for a meal) or is just plain obnoxious. When I was pregnant, we did a quickie three day cruise (not because of my condition, but that was to fit in a vacation around my hubby's schedule) and it happened to fall on Easter weekend. Turned out to be during spring break for some of the colleges around here (our local school district also always takes the week leading up to Easter) so our ship was full of college-aged kids . The one port was Ensenada which has a drinking age of 18 with some popular drinking spots. So you can just imagine how it was on that port day. Cabs pulling up to the pier with kids staggering out -- not kidding. The next morning was very quiet. Not sure what percentage of the passengers were in this age-range -- may have been lower than perceived, to be honest, but it was sure noticeable to us. But really, it didn't really bother us -- more of an amusement. And I'm sure the beer sold out on board. As for a singles cruise, are you concerned they will be hitting on your daughter? Do you trust her judgement? Or do you think she may be bothered by the attention? Those may be very valid questions to consider...or maybe it might be much ado about nothing. My past experience with large groups on board being a negative experience for us were only twice. My second cruise turned on to be on a ship that had a "World Tourney of Bingo" on that sailing. They didn't really take over venues other than a lounge for their bingo matches It seemed the rest of the time, they were in the casino (not a problem for me as I don't usually gamble) or someplace drinking or eating. Very addictive types for the most part (we would run into a passenger here and there who seemed embarrassed to have booked the cruise for the tournament -- they would say they thought it would be fun but didn't realize how some of the most rabid players were). On another cruise, there was an extended family where the parents camped in the casino but let their kids run wild. And were demanding of the staff, etc. On other cruises we've seen signs for groups and can tell we weren't being impacted at all.
BullDawg91 Posted December 7, 2014 #31 Share Posted December 7, 2014 Are the Conquest and Victory the same cruise line? You might get some sympathy if you call and explain the situation and the reason for needing to change cruises. After all, they just turned your family cruise into a potential nightmare. I bet they'll work with you. I wouldn't think there would be any penalty to change if you aren't past the Paid In Full date even if you have paid in full. There are plenty of shuttles and car services that run between FLL and Miami. Often it's significantly cheaper to fly into FLL and pay a shuttle anyway. The other option is the cost the to change your flights to accommodate other cruises. What would the change fee be to push your flight out a day to do some of the 7 day cruises you mentioned? VenusLady Posted December 7, 2014 #38 Share Posted December 7, 2014 Definitely not a cruise I would want to go on, each to their own. I imagine lots of noise during the night in most rooms ;) Your best bet, it to talk to your parents?? They have a right to know what kind of cruise they have booked and paid for!! It's not fair you keep that from them. Personally I think it's bad that a TA has not told you what cruise it is before you booked! If you can't change, then go and enjoy. Take ear plugs, and I am sure the breakfasts will be very quiet while they nurse hangovers :)

Sent from my iPad using Forums ?? When is final payment actually due? Was the above incorrect or do you think that, once you make final payment, you can't do anything? Regardless, you won't know what Carnival would actually allow you to do until you call them and ask.

MCC retired Posted December 7, 2014 #48 Share Posted December 7, 2014 The only Final Payment date that would be penalized by the cruise line is their official date. If OP paid in full before that date , it is 100 percent refundable 😄 Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
Alter Ego Posted December 7, 2014 #49 Share Posted December 7, 2014 Did you ever actually call???? Sent from my iPhone using Forums I agree - he has to call whomever the cruise was booked with. I don't use Carnival, but I see you can cancel your cruise within 76 days of the cruise (which I assume is the 16th date). It does mention something about Early Saver and Super Saver fares and, only looking quickly, it appears that deposits are not refundable in those instances. As far as I can tell, it appears to be within the cancellation period. The OP needs to figure out what he wants to do and make a phone call. I agree. Call and ask. You may be pleasantly surprised with the response seeing you have learned of this large group and you are a family with teens. I would approach it from that perspective as that seems to be your concern. Edited December 7, 2014 by sail7seas
