mapleleaves Posted December 14, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 14, 2014 How are the port times? That's an important factor to consider .... are you in port long enough and at the right time of day for any planned activities? ie in port for only 7am - noon is pretty worthless. Are you sure that the Solstice stops in Victoria before docking in Vancouver and starts in Seattle?

Rare Lois R Posted December 14, 2014 #5 Share Posted December 14, 2014 Starts in Seattle and ends in Vancouver, I got it off of the website. Sent from my iPhone using Forums What week are you looking at? There is a cruise on May 1st that starts in Vancouver and ends in Seattle.....then she sails roundtrip Seattle/Seattle for the rest of the season. The only cruise she starts in Seattle and ends in Vancouver is on Sept 11th (that is the last cruise of the season......it is 11 nights. The May 1st cruise is the very beginning of the season. Sept 11th is the last cruise of the season. So is it possible you are looking at the ports backwards?

NOSaints1 Posted December 14, 2014 Author #10 Share Posted December 14, 2014 I appreciate it, so my options for that month is the Soltice or the Infinity. Is the M class still good for my wife and I who are in our mid 30s. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

I have sailed all the M class and S class......whichever one I am on? I just always end up having a good time.:D And remember, usually on Alaska cruises, you are off the ship most of the time during the day.

Rare Lois R Posted December 14, 2014 #14 Share Posted December 14, 2014 Does the M class have a naturalist onboard? Sent from my iPhone using Forums They should have, yes. But as for being 100% sure for your sailing? I can't tell you for Sept 2016 what will be offered. But normally, yes, they have Naturalists on their Alaska cruises. mapleleaves Posted December 14, 2014 #15 Share Posted December 14, 2014 If Celebrity is your only consideration, have a look at the trip reports and photo journals in the STICKYs above. They are first hand accounts of the cruise, ports, activities, etc so they will be very helpful. There are several reports for the Solstice in the 2014 list. For the 2013 reports, go to reply #45 where the reports are sorted by cruiseline and ship. Good luck with your choice!
kitegirl Posted December 23, 2014 #16 Share Posted December 23, 2014 I am booked for the Infinity on Sept 4..2016 Maybe we will see you there... I love the Vancouver return cruise... going up the inside passage instead of the west side of Vancouver Island is wonderful...and a smoother cruise... Sent from my iPhone using Forums The issue of port times has already been mentioned. I notice that the Solstice goes through neither Glacier Bay or Hubbard Glacier. Infinity goes through Hubbard Glacier. If you can't find a cruise that goes through Glacier Bay which in my opinion is mandatory on any Alaska cruise, I would pick the Infinity cruise because of Hubbard Glacier. Also, because it starts and leave from Vancouver, you do not waste time cruising from Seattle to Vancouver. Unless you are totally wedded to Celebrity, I would find a cruise that does Glacier Bay. DON Well said. Celebrity is my cruiseline of choice, but Princess has been in Alaska longer and has better Itineraries (IMHO). We prefer southbound to Vancouver to RT Seatle, since it is closer to the true inside passage. There are many threads on this topic.
NOSaints1 Posted December 23, 2014 Author #21 Share Posted December 23, 2014 We never sailed Celebrity before only Carnival, we booked the Soltice for good things I heard on Cruise radio and for the amount of things to do and cost.
