Liberty questions

I have read reviews of people mentioning this ship vibrates a lot can anybody verify this?

For the lunch buffet, can you give us an idea what they serve as far as hot food items? Excluding the burgers, fries, tacos, hot dogs (fast food type foods)

Is there a live band playing at night anywhere?

Do they have music out at the pool?

Does anybody have the dinner menus for the southern caribbean on this ship?

Thank you.

I was just on the December 13 cruise on the Liberty, yes there is vibration and I mostly noticed it while having lunch in Emile's especially on the upper floor part. Lunch was carving station with roast beef and lamb. Chinese, deli sandwiches and salads and stuff. Bands played in several places including the pool areas. There are two solo one man bands also.

I was on the 11/28 cruise and it vibrated like crazy from Midship on back. I was in room 6373, and had to move my room it was vibrating everything around. Guest services came up and confirmed it.

Now, you will see a few people come along and say it wasn't, and you can discount one or two of us complaining, but when there is many of us on different cruises with the same issue, you can't discount the issue.

Can't give you a run down of buffet items, but typical buffet food.

Music by the pool quite often.

Music throughout the ship day and night in various places.

Never eat at the Dining room anymore, so can't tell you about that.

Off of the 12/13 cruise (smooth seas every day)

No excessive vibrations felt. Only minor vibrations that are felt at times on any other cruise ship (some vibration Silver MDR near aft windows)

Lunch buffet menu changes theme every day for lunch (Italian, American , etc. ) That said , we only had lunch there once . Too many other choices like :

MDR Brunch on Sea Days, Fish & Chips, Deli , Iguana, Guys Burgers)

Live music in different locations (Casino, Atriun, etc.) every evening.

Most popular evening events were the shows in the Comedy Club (Family & Adult , up to 5 shows per night to choose from).

Music at the pool mostly DJ and recordings ,sometimes live .

Hummm.....too many have mentioned about vibrations where I have not had any on my past 10 cruises knock on wood lol. Anybody else care to give their comments, we still deciding, Adventure of the Seas or Carnival Liberty.

Sitting in stateroom 7352 on liberty right now. No excessive vibration here so far this week. Just normal vibrations I have felt on all my cruises to date.

Having a great time. Service is exceptional, best dining staff of all my cruises so far. Stateroom attendant is hardly seen but always fullfills requests and room is always immaculate.

Food is very subjective and I have no complaints. Have always found something to my liking and is served hot and very tasty.

It seems that the vibration problems which were REAL occurred mostly in late Nov to mid December of 2014. I was a first time Carnival person and felt them myself- not all the time but noticeable. I was surprised at how many other cruisers commented on this problem as we greeted people and struck up conversations. The average experienced Carnival person seemed to be pretty unhappy with the cruise, telling me it was their worst Carnival cruise. I thought most things were okay to pretty good, except for the entertainment.

The poolside entertainment that I observed was a DJ or a single guitar player. I was surprised that there was no band for the sailaway and the weather was very nice! My HAL cruise was more of a "funship" than this 8 night Caribbean cruise.

It depends on seas and size of the ship. The Liberty, etc are smaller ships, older, and like everything propulsion, etc have been upgraded on the newer ships. They will ride rougher, creak more than the Dream, etc.

The Liberty, at 110,000 tons, I would hardly call a smaller ship.

We were on the 11/15 sailing. My cabin was on deck 1 in one of the back few rooms still considered midship. We didn't feel much vibration in our room, but we felt it in the aft area of the ship. We had dinner in the top level of the silver dining room, and the vibrations were noticeable a few of the nights.

I ate lunch at the buffet a couple of times. I think I ate on Italian day (some posted, braised beef, a fish dish, etc) and Caribbean Day (a rice dish, a curry dish some veggies). It really seemed that the chef is into Indian cuisine, because it seemed there were always a couple of dishes that seemed more Indian inspired, as opposed to inspired by the theme of the day. They always had a carving station, salad bar, bread, and a few other "plain" less exotic options.

For lunch, they also have the Pizza Pirate (which I found the margerita pizza delightful), Fish N Chips ( which has a few more seafood options beyond actual fish and chips), Mongolian grill (great if you like to customize your noodles or stir fry), the deli (if you just want a sandwich or a better-than-average hot dog), Guys Burgers (nice topping bar if you like to customize), and Blue Iguana (customizable tacos and burritos).

There seemed to be at least one location with live music every night. We saw live music at the main show, at the lobby bar, outside the casino, in the Cabinet bar, and a couple of other places. A few were good (we really enjoyed the brass band), while a few were not do good.

They had a DJ by the pool during the day on sea days, during parties, and during some other peak times. I saw 2 different DJs. One was pretty good, and the other was just OK. They also played a couple of concerts on the big screen, which provided pool music.

I can't help you with the dinner menus. But, i found that the items on the new menus could be grouped into 2 categories: fun and flavorful or plain and safe. If you like flavor, then try the fun and flavorful: vegetarian, braised rabbit, curries, moussaka, nutella tiramisu, smores parfaits. If you like plain and safe, order the garden salad, a meat from the grill, and WCMC. The menus do a good job of offering options to people who play it safe with food, while also offering something "different" for those accustomed to big flavors.

I love all ethnic cuisine except for Indian ugh.....it sounds like this ship only offers fast food type foods in the buffet, can anybody tell me if there are healthier foods or meat carvings or meat hot dishes?

Of course there are healthier foods on the buffet, and i wouldn't call the food on the buffet fast food. There are salads, veggies, carvings stations, chicken, pork, seafood, beef, soup, etc.

You won't find burgers, fries, etc on the buffett. Guys Burgers on the Lido deck by the pool is the only burger and fries fasy food on the ship. There is a fish and chips upstairs and a Blue Iguana burittos/tacos, but not in regular buffet lines.

And no Indian food, which i enjoyed on the Dream.

We've sailed on Liberty twice. We had an aft cabin on the second cruise. The first two days, seas were choppy and our cabin rumbled like parts of the wall would fall apart any minute. Similar vibrations could be felt while having lunch in the aft dining room. However, from day 3 on, seas were calm and the rumble stopped altogether. We didn't even think about it for the rest of the cruise.

The other time we sailed on Liberty, we had a forward cabin on the Riviera and had no issues, and that was considering that we were skirting a tropical storm and the seas were very rough.

Even with the rumble, we loved the Liberty. She's our favorite Carnival ship!

We have sailed on the Freedom twice, and loved the layout and especially the Serenity Deck. That's a good part of why we have booked the Liberty for September. We've been on the smaller ships (Fantasy and Inspiration) and the larger (twice on the Dream). The Liberty ship is plenty big in my opinion but not so large to be overrun by people. To me, the perfect size.

I think most of the ships we've been on have had a little vibration from time to time. I can only assume that a good part of this is due to the weather and the "seas" themselves.

I liked to carry my lunch up to the fish and chips and felt a ton of vibration up there. I don't remember excessive vibration in the cabin, though, and I was 7296. Middle of the ship almost literally.

The buffet had a theme but there was always a carving station and a salad bar set up. The mongolian wok is excellent, fresh and healthy-ish, and worth the wait. I've heard people rave about the fish and chips (I wish they'd offer something like coconut shrimp or fried shrimp with fries. Not crazy about other sea food.) and Blue Iguana Cantina has fresh tacos and burritos made to order. Try combining chicken AND shrimp tacos. Delish!!

I also liked using their topping bar for other things. Guys fries dipped in sour cream? Mmmmmm!
