My husband and I are considering a cruise on the Royal Princess but have heard that the balconies are small. Can anyone recommend a deck and/or cabin with a nice balcony. We prefer a covered balcony toward the aft of the ship. Thanks for your help.

Approximately 90% of the balconies (excluding full suites) are 9'x4' and fairly small. There are some that are angled and a few that are larger. Check out the deck plans. Avoid aft facing balconies as these still have the soot issue. Would also suggest avoiding mid ship starboard side balconies on decks 15, 14 & 12. These balconies are in the highly visible sight lines from the skywalk above. Port side balconies in the same locations do not have this issue as the Seaview Bar blocks the sight lines.

You certainly are correct about the mid-ship balconies where pax can look down on you as you sit outside relaxing. I was on the Royal this past spring and had a good view of the balconies below thanking myself that I knew about it ahead of time and booked a cabin away from there.
