xcell Posted December 28, 2014 #1 Share Posted December 28, 2014 I read in a review that they are charging $10 for the character breakfast. It's cheaper than NCL's which is $20 pp but really?
ncbn0902 Posted December 28, 2014 #2 Share Posted December 28, 2014 we have reserved it but was thinking about canceling it, we don't have children. Nicole and Barry
allready Posted December 28, 2014 #3 Share Posted December 28, 2014 Yes, they charge. 10 per adult, children are free. We could not book it ahead of time, so booked it first thing on the ship. We showed up and of course they didn't have our reservation, though had billed us already. They let us in anyway and we had to go deal with guest services to reverse the charges for the kids. They brought out 3 characters -- Po & Tigress from Kung Fu Panda and King Julien from Madagascar. Strangely they limited it to about 12 tables so we had plenty of time with the characters. Breakfast was served timely and hot.
derrick22 Posted December 28, 2014 #4 Share Posted December 28, 2014 We did the character breakfast on Allure in 2012 and there was no charge. :) We had a table of 8 adults and no children :D I enjoyed the meal and the characters but don't know that I would pay for it. xcell Posted December 28, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted December 28, 2014 I wouldn't pay for it... I think it's just another $ grab. Next thing you know they will charge for ice skating... I wonder if they will make this ship wide...thank god my kids are getting older that they won't care if we go or not...
jmrothermel Posted December 28, 2014 #6 Share Posted December 28, 2014 Yes they do, but they didn't charge for kids. So me and my children went, and it was only $10. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
JL&Fam Posted December 29, 2014 #7 Share Posted December 29, 2014 (edited) I would say worth the $10. A bit of confusion with booking but we got one using the Royal IQ app. Not crowded, lots of time to take pics. Gonflipin Posted December 29, 2014 #8 Share Posted December 29, 2014 $10 per adult. They did it multiple mornings on the 12/20 sailing. I'd say 3 at least. Each had different characters. Character stickers were given out. NCL character breakfast- kids get a 'goody bag' and professional photo included. Still ridiculous that either of them charge but they are cute nonetheless. missmad Posted December 29, 2014 #9 Share Posted December 29, 2014 is she considered a child? booked for her and myself, couldn't justify adding hubby and the teens in for the charge.
Koshlong Posted January 1, 2015 #10 Share Posted January 1, 2015 I usually don't like up charges, but I suspect that the purpose of this one is to make room for the kids at a geared-to-kids event. This way adults who REALLY want to are able to, but families won't get turned away because the place is full of adults.
xcell Posted January 2, 2015 Author #11 Share Posted January 2, 2015 Usually they do this way too early in the morning (for regular adults on vacation), so I think would suffice to limit the amount of people. The breakfast isn't anything special, so for an up-charge ...it's another money grab. Soon they won't allow you to take pic of the characters with your kids, unless done professionally, etc... Or the face painting and balloon animals will be charged so that they don't have to pay them anymore... Will it ever end...lol...
brianmyers2 Posted January 2, 2015 #12 Share Posted January 2, 2015 I reserved this for my wife and I several months ago when it was free. It's on my cruise calendar in my RCCL account and it shows "purchased at $0.00." Did anyone else have this booked for free prior to the cruise and then get charged for it once on-board? I see now it's showing a $10 fee to book it online.
potterduck Posted January 2, 2015 #13 Share Posted January 2, 2015 Surely this is geared towards children? So would it not make more sense to charge $10 per child, with the adults going free??? (Limited to one free adult per paying child)

drmomto3kids Posted January 11, 2015 #15 Share Posted January 11, 2015 We did this when it was free and we weren't impressed. Is it better now? Is this still the "chocolate breakfast too?" Do they offer the chocolate breakfast elsewhere? My kids would be more excited about that than characters.
dibblette Posted January 13, 2015 #16 Share Posted January 13, 2015 Someone else in my party made the reservations. My kids are 10, 8 and 8 and from what I was told they had to pay the $10 and that it is only free for ages under 5. Is this true? Heather
ChristieNJ Posted January 15, 2015 #17 Share Posted January 15, 2015 My family and I did this on our December 1 sailing. It was my husband and I and our 15-year-old daughter, and my parents. We enjoy DreamWorks, so for us all it was totally worth it. The group for breakfast was small so we really had a lot of time with the characters. It was very very enjoyable and the food was delicious! I'm not one who likes to pay for extra things, but this was totally worth it to me and to my entire family. ***Christie***

tonyasnews Posted January 19, 2015 #19 Share Posted January 19, 2015 I booked it when it was still free, wondering if they will charge once were onboard or even cancel it. As of right now it's listed on my schedule. Sent from my iPad using Forums

tonyasnews Posted January 20, 2015 #21 Share Posted January 20, 2015 It used to be listed under onboard activities but for some reason it's no longer listed. Your best bet is to give them a call. Sent from my iPad using Forums
