pella4u Posted January 1, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 1, 2015 Going on FOS cruise in March, looking for things to do in Orlando the day before. Flight gets in around noon, leaving us all afternoon and evening for sightseeing/adventure/dinner. Never done anything in Orlando but Disney, all suggestions appreciated! cb at sea Posted January 1, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 1, 2015 You really won't have time to do Disney or Universal...but your hotel should have a great pool area....I'd relax there, then head to dinner and relax as a "vacation starter"! sbbquilter Posted January 1, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 1, 2015 We would likely schedule a round of golf. As it is during spring break the parks will be very crowded - I agree with the book a nice hotel with a great pool and start your cruise time relaxing. Clarea Posted January 1, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 1, 2015 I'd prefer to drive to Cocoa Beach and spend the day (and night) there. Much less hectic than Orlando.

HiCSailor Posted January 1, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 1, 2015 I second SeaWorld, but also think Wonderworks looks interesting.

cant_w8_2_cruise Posted January 1, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 1, 2015 We are also on FOS in March. Which sailing are you on? We are going to go to Cocoa Beach and stay there the night before. Our hotel is a block from the beach, so hoping to get a little stroll in the surf to get into relaxation mode. :) You could do Downtown Disney (or is it already being called Disney Springs??) in an afternoon/evening if you're a Disney fan. They have some fun spots for eating/spending time. I probably wouldn't try to do a park (even Sea World) in less than a day.
w&k Posted January 1, 2015 #9 Share Posted January 1, 2015 Another vote for getting out of Orlando and heading to Cocoa Beach. If you have time and ambition, Kennedy Space Center is a great option. Have fun, whatever you choose to do! Wendy
SewMuch Posted January 1, 2015 #10 Share Posted January 1, 2015 Here's what we did (6 adults, no kids): Got into Orlando the day before, rented a car and drove to our hotel in Cocoa Beach. Chose one with a nice pool and beach access. Relaxed, then went to dinner at Fishlips. Departing cruise ships sail right by, waving and yelling for the Port Canaveral cams. We knew that would be us the next day! Got up the next morning, had a nice breakfast, dropped our rental car off and let the rental company shuttle us to the port. catm6156 Posted January 1, 2015 #11 Share Posted January 1, 2015 There are tons of things to do in Orlando! And without going to a big park there are lots of things to do on Disney property. Downtown Disney is a great idea. You could do Disney Quest there, listen to some of the street entertainment, shop and of course eat dinner. If you like Irish, I highly recommend Raglan Road for dinner, they also have an Irish Caberet show with music and dancing. You could do one of the Disney waterparks; Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach, or they have two mini golf courses on property also. I've pasted a link to the visit Orlando site that lists lots of other things to do in Orlando. Have fun whatever you do! http://www.visitorlando.com/
notsomadhatter Posted January 1, 2015 #12 Share Posted January 1, 2015 Downtown Disney (which is officially converting to its new name, Disney Springs, sometime in the next year) is a massive construction zone right now. Wouldn't really recommend it for a while.
Rare ttnc4me Posted January 1, 2015 #13 Share Posted January 1, 2015 You didn't say from where you're coming, the ages involved or interests but... Cocoa beach is a good idea. SeaWorld will be fun. An airboat ride maybe? KSC?
pella4u Posted January 2, 2015 Author #14 Share Posted January 2, 2015 We are coming in from Wisconsin so we will want to do something outside to soak in the warmth. We are already booked overnight in Orlando, six adults that all enjoy out of the way, unique dining. [Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives]

Swampbabe Posted January 2, 2015 #17 Share Posted January 2, 2015 If you're all adults I would head to Winter Park. Park avenue is a great place to stroll, lots of wonderful restaurants, great wine bars.
