PathfinderEss Posted January 3, 2015 #226 Share Posted January 3, 2015 I hadn't realized it was Captain van der Loo on board the Westerdam. He use to be on the Oosterdam alot when stationed in SD. Nice man just not up to Captain van Eerten's tooting ability.
Rare Copper10-8 Posted January 3, 2015 #227 Share Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) FLL NE cam has been showing good shots of the pilot pick-ups on the last few ships. Maybe will zoom in on the W also. Pilot boat #5 is waiting out there - here she comes alongside port side - that will not be an easy job tonight! They're keeping up with her. But she's heading into the night! Pilot boat staying right by her side. Now I'd better head off - Thanks, all, Chief, Lou and Dave. See you next time. Rare Copper10-8 Posted January 3, 2015 #241 Share Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) John,Do the pilots ever miss and wind up in the water? If so, who rescues? Not very often but it has happened; the pilot boat crew primarily, with the cruise ship's crew (life buoys, etc.). Pilots always wear life vests when going down the ladder. Most of those guys (and ladies) are very experienced and have done it numerous times SADM 's "boatmen" having rigged and made ready the pilot ladder (outside the Panama Canal) St. Thomas, USVI pilot coming onboard MADM Edited January 3, 2015 by Copper10-

pv girl Posted January 3, 2015 #243 Share Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) Thanks for the info. Guess the pilot would be a little red-faced unless the seas were really, really bad. Edited January 3, 2015 by pv girl

mollyanne Posted January 3, 2015 #249 Share Posted January 3, 2015 (edited) Maybe I'm wrong but I just looked at Marine Traffic and the Oasis OTS does not appear to be returning to port. I am interested because we have friends on it. Edited January 3, 2015 by mollyanne
