Mickeefan Posted January 13, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 13, 2015 Does the bus stop at all hotels along Palm Beach? We have a day pass arranged at Occidental Grand and are wondering about taking the bus over a taxi. If the bus doesn't stop at the Occidental, what is the closest stop? Thanks for any help. Hatteras51 Posted January 13, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 13, 2015 Just tell the bus driver where you are going. He will let you know when to get off. Even if he drops you off somewhere up the street in Palm Beach, it is a very short walk. There is a bus stop on the right of Occidental to use when you leave. It is very simple. Thanks for any help. just tell the driver, the bus station is right across the street from the port exit, we had to wait a good amount of time to even purchase the ticket but it stopped pretty much anywhere people wanted. if the line is long then grab a cab because it took us an hour between getting the ticket and getting up to palm beach. Arubalisa Posted January 14, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2015 Just a thought, but since you are paying a fair amount of money for the day pass, you may want to just pay the fare for a taxi to the Occidental in order to maximize your time at the resort. A cab from the cruise port is about $12 for up to 5 people. Bus is $2.30 per person. Take the cab. You can always take the bus back but you need to be waiting at a marked bus stop. Note: Aruba law does not allow taxis to carry more than 5 passengers. Cab drivers won't bend the rule since it can cost them their license. Arubalisa, are the prices we see quoted on the signs (Taxi to Palm Beach $14) in US dollars or Aruba dollars? Do they take US dollars? And does that conversion rate on the signs ($1.0 US = $1.8 Aruba ) mean the taxi ride to Palm beach is only ~$8 US and the chair and umbrella rental ~$25 US? Probably should also ask if the buses take US dollars and change for that $2.30 bus fare? (and is that in US dollars?) Arubalisa Posted January 18, 2015 #11 Share Posted January 18, 2015 Prices posted are in US dollars. I rarely quote anything on the forum in Florins. Just makes things too confusing. If you are in the tourist areas on the island all prices will be listed in US dollars. Some restaurants may list prices in both US dollars and Florins. US dollars, cash are widely accepted just about everywhere. On occassion you may receive florin coins in your change. Bus drivers appreciate exact change. Buses accept US dollars. Vendors accept US dollars as well.
