Qcruise Posted January 14, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 14, 2015 So our little group will be aboard the Crown Princess on Superbowl weekend....at Ensenada on that Sunday. What can we expect on board...?? I assume they'll put it up on the big screen in the pool area....maybe a tailgate party....?? I've also had people ask me if there might be wagering on the game in the casino, though I know there is not usually a sports book there. Hoping for good weather that day for sure.......:)

Hoping for good weather that day for sure.......:) I was on the Emerald (sister ship) for the 2014 Super Bowl. The game was shown on MUTS and also in Club Fusion and Skywalker's. It was not shown in cabins. We attended at MUTS. The broadcast isn't shown until 6pm (3pm on the west coast). All that pre-game stuff that starts 4 hours early is not shown. They actually showed the film "The Blind Side" before the game. Many of the special commercials are not shown. Much of the time during commercials you just get a shot of the field. You will have to get there very early and stake out your seats. There was a table set up with all kinds of tailgate snacks, carts with beer and drinks, buckets of beer, special Super Bowl Drinks I guess whatever the bar staff thinks they can sell. You can also get pizza, ice cream, and all kinds of food from the buffet.
AKman2495 Posted January 14, 2015 #3 Share Posted January 14, 2015 I was on the Crown Princess last year for the Super Bowl. We had a large group of people (over 1000) who were on board. We had screens in a couple of lounges, the theater was reserved for the group, Muts had the game as did screens in the casino. There was plenty of food and drink... There should be no problem finding a place to watch the game.
Astro Flyer Posted January 14, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 14, 2015 (edited) Others posted the locations & activities but hopefully the satellite reception in Ensenada has improved. Last January we were on the Sapphire in Ensenada for the NFC & AFC championship games & there were too many "signal not available" warnings interrupting both games. Myself & many others were unhappy about missing too much of the game. :( In 2009 on the Coral Princess there were no signal problems somewhere in the Caribbean. Hopefully you won't experience any signal interruptions in Ensenada and will get to see all the game without missing portions of it. :) Maybe it was the local bars jamming the signal to the ship to get passengers into their bars to watch the game? :p Edited January 14, 2015 by Astro Flyer

Astro Flyer Posted January 14, 2015 #6 Share Posted January 14, 2015 We experienced some of the same problems, it kept the picture, but lost the sound for awhile. I realize that it's all dependent on satellite reception but it's difficult to comprehend how a short distance from San Diego on a clear day it's intermittent but somewhere in the Caribbean Sea it never lost the signal. Being broadcast on ESPN International they had different commentators & only ESPN commercials...the same ones all game long & would've preferred the creative network commercials. ;)
critterchick Posted January 14, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 14, 2015 We were able to watch some of the college bowl games in our cabin. I'm going to Tivo the Super Bowl just in case we can't do that on Crown.
