happytovacation Posted January 27, 2015 #1 Share Posted January 27, 2015 We plan to go to kelly's landing for an evening meal. We will take a taxi over. Is it near the embassy suites this mall, is it a safe area in the evening? Can we pick up a taxi after we eat to go back to the hotel without a problem? Thank you in advance
fishywood Posted January 27, 2015 #2 Share Posted January 27, 2015 You could have a problem finding a taxi for such a short trip. Would have to offer him at least $10 to bother with a two-minute ride, half of which will be waiting at the light to cross 17 St. It is a safe and easy walk. Kelly's Landing is at the back of the strip mall diagonally across the street from Embassy Suites at 17 St and Cordova Rd. (the first traffic light east of the hotel). happytovacation Posted January 27, 2015 Author #3 Share Posted January 27, 2015 We are not staying at the embassy suites, we will be at the atlantic hotel and spa. But how do you get a taxi back to the atlantic hotel after we are finished. Do we call for one at the restaurant or do we walk over to the embassy suites to call one. Thanks for your response. Rare crewsweeper Posted January 27, 2015 #4 Share Posted January 27, 2015 For that, you could do either. You'll probably have more luck just grabbing a taxi at Embassy Suites and in the least, the front desk can help you call one if none are hanging around. But why truck all the way to Kelly's? There's Lulu's Bait Shack and Coconuts within relatively short walking distance from the Atlantic. Both are reasonably priced. Also several mid-range and higher end restaurants in that area. Have eaten at both lulu's (once) and coconuts (multiple times whenever picking up friends or family arriving at FLL in the evening) and like them both. Check out their menus on line. Since you are coming from New England why not try Florida seafood?
royalcruz Posted January 28, 2015 #7 Share Posted January 28, 2015 If you are worried about safety, have the restaurant call you a cab, or call one yourself. Yellow Cab is 954-777-7777. I think 954-666-6666 is another cab co. Walking across 17th St to Embassy Suites can be dangerous in the dark, like any busy road.
Jiffymom Posted January 28, 2015 #8 Share Posted January 28, 2015 We went to Kelleys on St Patrick's. Had a great time. It seemed very safe. It is not fancy at all. We also went to coconuts. That was good also

You can have the restaurant call you a cab when you are finished.
cruisediva07 Posted January 29, 2015 #10 Share Posted January 29, 2015 We are staying at the Hilton Ft Lauderdale Marina Hotel next month and plan to spend a few hours on the water taxi after checking in. Are either Coconuts or Kelly's Landing within walking distance of a stop from the water taxi? (We've eaten at a few restaurants on the route in the past, but want to try somewhere new this year.) Or, eat a large lunch at the hotel and stop for Happy Hour somewhere on the water taxi route?? Thoughts.... Thanks in advance. Dee :o
